UK general election run down. UK general elections were held yesterday. Polls opened 07:00 am - 10:00 pm The election concluded at 10 pm last night. By 4 am this morning, that is within 6 hrs after the polls close, results were out. Mind you, the results were manually counted. I was among those who counted the results as ad-hoc staff. By 6 am this morning, Rishi Sunak, the former prime minister already conceded defeat and congratulated Starmer. At 11 o'clock, he walked out of the office for the last time with his family. By noon this afternoon, the new prime minister already had a meeting with King Charles at Buckingham Palace. The King gave the go-ahead to Starmer to form a new government. Just 14 hours after voting closed, Keir Starmer addressed the nation as the new PM in front of 10 Downing Street. The new prime minister walks into No. 1O House and assumes power. As I type this message, the prime minister is already compiling lists of his cabinet and will announce the same later today. In less than 24 hours, elections were held, and the result counted and a New Government Formed. This is what governance looks like. These people don’t pray in the morning, afternoon or night. They simply serve.

Highnesscfr2030:UK been doing democracy since about the 1500s, so should get it right I suppose, unlike my Nigeria that has been democratic for a mere 25 years. Before then, UK too prayed in the morning, afternoon and night, until they eventually became enlightened and realised they were not created from mud but were created in God's image and started eating the fruits of knowledge morning noon and night so that they may "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground". There is hope for Nigeria. We too will soon realise that we will not surely die if we eat fruits of knowledge, but will eat and gain wisdom, and our eyes will open, and we will free ourselves from naked ignorant slavery in the Garden of Eden and become blessed like UK.

Highnesscfr2030:First and foremost, that's not governance, that was an election, an election is different from governance. You have a king to give a go ahead, do u have a king to give a go ahead here? Election results were announced by 4am in Nigeria and Obidents said election results are not announced at odd hours but they are celebrating another election results announced by 4am. Most importantly, the UK didn't get to what it is today because it's citizens ran away and went to other countries and kept critîcizing their own. Since u are in the UK, go to libraries and pick books or better still, go to bookstores and buy books to read their history, they were not in foreign lands trying to make móckèry of their own, they built theirs. |

Asgard13:Unfortunately for u, I'm not a Yoruba, I don't have any ties with Yoruba even in ancient times, no one in my family has ever married a Yoruba but people in family has married lgb0s, so I have a better view of lgb0s than Yoruba. |

budaatum:People who believe in their country are the only people that can make changes, since you believe in your country, it's wise to get into positions that u can influence change, it's just a piece of advice tho |

JagabanB:Get into position, lol. Have you not seen how many choose to be rude and insult me here on Nairaland? Nigerians are not yet ready for my atheist sort in position to tell them they will surely not die if they eat the fruits of knowledge in libraries and schools, or that "from the sweat of their brow will they eat" is not a curse but a fact of life. They definitely are not ready for a person like me who will insist they learn science all through secondary school and up to the first year in uni regardless what ever they choose to study, and the Bible and Quran be combined into one book every Nigeria must read and not believe but understand before they are 16, even if I buy the book for them with my own money. What Nigerians would do to me is the same thing we read was done to Jesus Christ, and my love for my country is not so much that I would chose to be crucified by lazy fuqs for the lazy fuqs who live in it. Sorry.

budaatum:I understand u perfectly well, I have tried it too and u will end up being thèîr enèmy, some of them hold me as being irreligious today. I always tell people that whoever will transform Nigeria wiII definitely be an enèmy of the masses, they think I am playing, same person will make enèmîes out of the cabals too and the easier thing to do is avoid it totally or please the cabals and embezzle, that's where we are in this country. |
