English language is our official language. Pidgin is not theirs. It is not a sign of inferiority complex, it is just fascinating.
If I speak fluent Japanese in such way in Japan, there would be some Japanese who would be impressed/amused too.

Because there was no other way he could communicate to the black man he wanted to colonize but the reverse is the case today....

But today we are taking back colonialism to the whites in some special way, that's why you hear words like brain drain.

If not for bad governance, I still remember that in the city of Eket and Port Harcourt in the 90s we were having a whole lot of white people living with us, this time not as colonial masters but as men and women seeking for greener pastures. But that has been reduced drastically by bad economy and insecurity.
