What are you telling me?

The sole aim of the government wanting these people to get registered properly is to enable government to press their necks with tax properly.

That is all what this government knows how to do very well.

Tinubu's government is government of the people, by the elites and for the elites.

President Tinubu, please let the poor breath.

Tinubu wants to strangle POS business with tax

This is how you guys support fraudsters and scammers to do business and the blame government for your lapses.

Raxxye:
This is how you guys support repressive, anti-people policies of this heartless administration.
19,00 Naira just for pos terminal registration with CAC and you think it's all good!

Always making policies that will frustrate the poor.
They want to start taxing pos operators be dat o. They have seen the amount and volume of transactions been done by the pos operators .

Ok.

Does CAC have the power to make such pronouncement? How would CAC find out those who have complied with the requirement recently demanded by government? I thought the job of CAC is to register business names. Is it not the job of the law enforcement agents to arrest and prosecute those who have failed to comply? Will CAC hit the streets to arrest and prosecute those who failed to register?

And by the way, what would happen to operators in the remote communities, or those who are in areas that are difficult to access by roads?

Is registration free of charge for them? Or has CAC given incentives like reduction of the registration fee for POS operators who have so far not complied?
They should just mandate the banks or companies giving out the pos machines to make sure they register anyone they are giving the machines too with CAC. This will take the burden off the people and help those in remote areas. So when you are getting the machine ,the operator will be taking your details down and they will do the registration for you

I could recall PDP Era when the federal government was removing charges on ATM withdrawal and others to make the poor have a sense of living, not until Tinubu and APC came into power. They have literally taxed everything know to mankind and we are still supporting their stupid decisions. for someone to have start a POS business it shows that just want ends to meet, how much are they even making that the government of Tinubu wants them the register it.. is the bank charge on every transaction that the government is collecting from them not enough that you still want them to yank of another huge money to register a business that is linked to a registered bank

The exercise is important to curb criminals using POS for robbery.
Any collaboration is welcome please
If I may ask, what will it do differently that NIN/BVN/voters/NEPA BILL can't do?
Re: CAC Extends Deadline For Registration By FINTECH Operators by gabbasin(m): 7:37am On Jul 07, 2024
CAC should upgrade their portal, the online registration is frustrating. You hardly get feedback after paying for the name reservation. I have been waiting for 6 weeks to know if my name reservation is successful or not. They've launched the one day company registration but we are yet to see link to the portal

All this useless Tinubu's APC government does to Nigerians is impose more tax burdens so that Tinubu, his wife, his son and their cronies would have enough to loot!

Do you know that the government is charging 19,000 Naira for each pos terminal registration with the CAC? Multiply that amount by the number of pos terminals in use in Nigeria!

He is not concerned about the hardship and hunger in the land; he is out to tax Nigerians even for the air they breathe!

Stories, no be Nigeria again. They just want to make money through registration of millions of POS people not like crime-fighting here.
Many will still not register and nothing will happen

To me I don't really think it is about security, because all bank accounts with either commercial bank, MFB or mobile money are already linked with eith BVN or NIN {meaning it is onwed by a known individual}. so if fraud is being carried out with an unlinked account, then the financial institution that allowed unlinked account should be held responsible.

Elsewhere, all the recent ponzi schemes that scammed Nigerians all had CAC registrations but they still succeeded

I think it is more about revenue generation. Statistics has it that we have above 2 million POS right now, that is N20bn in registration and future annual filing and tax filing.

But it is all good shaa. At least it will give ones business a good look
Your statistics may not be correct, hence some people have up to 2 or more terminals. Such people need only one CAC certificate. Secondly, it's not the whole of N19,000 or N19,500 that goes to CAC. It's a fraction of the amount . Moniepoint, Palmpay and Opay that are helping their agents to register will take a fraction of the amount as processing fee.

I think the company and the banks did that and they know where there POS agents are located. But know Nigerian Government are dubious and extortive of the poor always so they will use every means.

You did NIN, BVN, Drivers licence, voters card, and many others but they have not been used to track criminal.

Well the first mistake most Nigerian make is to forget that we have laws in Nigeria. CAC doesn't need to move a muscle all they need to do is to advise CBN. And with the digital world we are now, it becomes more simple as your wallet provider can just lock up your money and the devise. The crime is unregistered business which is tantamount to tax evasion as you can't remit taxes (WTH, VAT CIT etc) when unregistered.

To the issue of remote villages, the law is sacrosanct what ever made the POS to work in the villages also made Internet available there to register online for CAC so remoteness is not an excuse.

Fees are standard. It take money to make money your call cost remain the same urban or rural location.

I calculated using N10,000 paid to CAC because I am registering mine myself. The last statistics I read said 2.7m pos presently. That is why i put it at 2 million

They aren't doing it to curb a crime, though it will help. They have seen there a lot of POS and they have done a mental calculation of how much they could make if they make all POS agents register with CAC.

Nigeria is currently a wore torn country similar to Somalia with speculations going around that it will be ungovernable in no distant time. A third world at that, should not bother itself with policies that will already fuel the frustration on ground. By the way what's the essence of BVN in the first place if the reason is to curb crime?
