Our correspondent LP seeks to replicate UK Success in Nigeria's 2027 elections The Leader of the Labour Party Caucus in the House of Representatives, Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, has hailed the resounding victory of the Labour Party in the United Kingdom's election as a catalyst for action in Nigeria's 2027 general elections. In a statement, Ogene congratulated Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party in Britain, on his party's historic win over incumbent Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party. The Labour Party's victory, which saw them secure a massive parliamentary majority, has been described as the most decisive election win by any British political party this century. The UK's Labour Party won an impressive 412 seats, while the incumbent Conservatives secured 121 seats, ending their 14-year reign in power. Ogene expressed optimism that the Nigerian Labour Party can replicate this success in the 2027 elections, inspired by the UK party's unblemished electoral victory. "This momentous win is not only a victory for the Labour Party in the UK but also a beacon of hope for our party in Nigeria," Ogene said, adding "We are inspired by this triumph and are ready to work tirelessly to replicate this success in our own general elections come 2027." In a statement in Awka, the Anambra State capital on Friday, July 5, the Labour Party lawmaker, said that the election: "Tells vivid tales of hope for the opposition, competence and integrity of the electoral umpires in the UK, in a manner that elicited public confidence and trust in the electoral process. He pointed out that "Unlike what was witnessed in Nigeria in the last general elections, the process in UK was free of glitches, as about 40 million voters took part, polls closed around 10 pm Thursday and by daybreak, the results were out. Ogene added, "There was no judicial ambush, as immediate transition took place to the admiration of all lovers of democracy and free and fair elections. Hon. Ogene, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Renewable Energy, added, "If we must practice democracy, we must also love, copy and abide by the transparency and accountability of democratic institutions in nations of the world that allow the rule of law and democratic principles to thrive. "In deed, one of the potent lessons of the British elections is the fact that, the concept of 'snatch it, grab it, and run away with it,' has no place in modern democratic practice. "The UK's electoral process stands in stark contrast to our recent experience in Nigeria. The smooth, swift, and transparent election in the UK is a shining example for our electoral umpires, INEC, to emulate. "The British Labour Party's victory inspires hope and optimism, demonstrating that positive change is possible when people come together with a unified objective. "I urge the Nigerian Labour Party to draw inspiration from our British counterparts, close ranks, rally the people, and prepare to take the reins of power in 2027. " Let us work together to build a better future for our nation, guided by the principles of democracy, transparency, and accountability.Congratulations once again to the British Labour Party on this historic victory!" |

Why is Labour Party bitter and trying to copy UK's success in 2027 elections instead of focusing on their own failures and coming up with original ideas? |
