A former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr Takai Shamang has been abducted in his hometown, Biniki, in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Shamang, 78, was also a former President General of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers, now National Unctionsion of Electricity Employees between 1982 and 1989.

Confirming the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), his daughter, Mrs Grace Abbin, said her 78-year-old father was abducted at his residence in Biniki, at about 8:00 pm on Friday.

Shamang is the President and Founder of Gantys Aid for Widows, Orphans and Needy Foundation, popularly known as GAWON Foundation.

They are seen as politicians because they are alleged to take bribes to sabotage strike efforts. You are not Nigerian are you ?

If strike is not constructive people will only suffer for nothing. its ok to strike and protest but let it be done sensibly.

continuous strikes does nobody any good. Do they take bribes maybe but they also fight for the causes of the common man.

If they are not politicians why are they watching civil servants suffering and no additional Kobo to their salaries when they have to pay double every time they go market to buy food? Transporters keep increasing fares evey day yet politicians refused to at least double their salary for once? No one is taking note but it's so flamed now and getting ever closer to the burst.
