People try to share the notion that they love their kids equally and I am here to put it out straight to them that it’s a lie.

You might not be able to disclose within your family, but you ve that special child that you emotionally and spiritually attached to.

Never said you don’t love the others, but you have that special one that your love for him/her is next to none.

It’s not peculiar to Nigerian men. Most men all over the world try to share the notion that they love their kids equally, which is a big lie.

its from both parents, no Nigerian mother loves her child unconditionally, it's either the love is attached to the one who has the most money, the one who takes care of her more, or the one who spends the most time with her, some mothers love their first born more while some love their last born more.
It's obvious and evident, a Nigerian parents with eleven kids will just picked like her favorite two or three out of them all.
Humans are the worst kind of specie of living things ever.

I was the least loved by one, got the least resources and the heaviest of scolding. Today, I'm the only one doing the care in old times.

The richest is not always the favorite. Right from when they were all kids, A man has a favorite child, and irrespective of whether he is successful or not, he still will always have a special spot in the man’s heart.

Like you said, he might be attached to him/her being the first or last, conditions of birth, or tidings that came forth after his birth. Nevertheless, my point is that, men have a favorite kid and that equal notion is false.

You are right about that. But denying that you “equally” love your kids is false.

Let me paint a scenario here :
a mother has four kids and the eldest child is her favorite, but when they grew up and became adults they left to earn a living leaving her with only the last born.
The eldest child's hustle no pay so he is struggling, the second child has hammered he is rich and sends money home to take care of his mother, while the 3rd child is also struggling financially just like the first child even though he calls home and talks to his mother from time to time.
The last born is at home so she takes care of the mother, cooks and buy things for her with the funds provided by the rich second son.
Now who do you think is the mother's favorite child/s right now?
i will tell you categorically that her favorite now is the second child followed by the last born and that is the typical average Nigerian parents for you.
They only care where it benefits them, take it or leave it.

Money does not buy such love.

Out the four scenarios you mentioned, there is one she has next to none unconditional love for, that has been built over the years.

Do you know who she calls and checks on the most? I am sure you don’t.

The specialty and unconditional love I am talking about cannot be bought with money.

She definitely loves all her kids and will celebrate their successes, and even love them more when they take care of her, but trust me, there is one out of the 4 she has so much Attachment to over decades.

That guy can never be disliked in poverty. It’s an unconditional love that its foundation has stood for years.

Like someone said in the thread, she might not disclose or you not been able to observe it as you grow, but I can tell you that, if the rich one himself is observant, he would know there is a child that the mother loves unconditionally.

It doesn't happen like that here, infact I have seen a family of four here that 3 of them are abroad except the 3rd one who isn't serious, he don give 3 girls belle n e no collect am but d mama collect those 3 kids on his behalf

The mama use money wey others dey send take buy car for d unserious one in Nigeria

Guy parents love isn't even about money here, I don see papa wey like only one pikin pass because that one na troublemaker n d papa say e like am cos e dey remind him of him youth days

Guy parents love some kids more irrespective of financial contribution

How does it work? At what point do you start identifying a favourite child? At the point of success? Does your favourite choice change with time the way your favourite food, football club, profession, etc. evolve as you age? How does it work?

It’s not about successes. Right from when they are kids, there is always one you emotionally attached to. One that easily gets his/her way with you.

You see, parents do it involuntarily but other siblings notice it. You might think you equally do, but people around you will observe your soft spot for one of them.
