If you like comedy anime and you're not watching My Deer Friend Nokotan, you're seriously missing out.
This is one of the most solid pilot episodes I've seen in a while. One of those pilot episodes you see and you know that you're looking at a potential Anime of the Season contender.

If you're looking for some great anime to watch, here are a few of my top picks:

Shirobako - This one gives an awesome behind-the-scenes look at the animation industry. You get to see characters working as animators, editors, voice actors, and more to create an anime. Lots of great insights into editing workflows and attention to detail.

New Game! - Follows a character starting work at a game development company as they create a new video game. Cool to see the creative process and all the different roles like programming, art, audio, and testing that come together.

Bakuman is about two friends working to become successful manga creators. They experience storyboarding, editing, redrawing, working with publishers, and more. Neat perspective on editing and perfecting creative work.

Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken - Three students come together to create an animation club and edit their project video with Wink App
and make an anime-inspired short film. You see their imagination and how they problem-solve with limited resources.

Those all provide funny and engaging stories with a great background in video/creative editing and production. Let me know if you have any other anime recs that involve video or animation editing/creation! Always love finding new shows like that whichinspire my own editing.
Top Anime Picks of 2024
If you're looking for some great anime to watch, here are a few of my top picks:

Attack on Titan: The Final Season - The epic conclusion to the saga that has captivated audiences worldwide. The animation and storytelling are top-notch, providing a thrilling experience from start to finish.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 - Continues to deliver high-quality animation and intense fight scenes. The second season delves deeper into the story, revealing more about the characters and their powers.
Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken - Three students come together to create an animation club and edit their project Photos and video with Photoroom Photo editor, making an anime-inspired short film. You see their imagination and how they problem-solve with limited resources.

Chainsaw Man - Based on the popular manga, this anime has quickly become a fan favorite with its unique storyline, intense action scenes, and dark humor.

Spy x Family - A heartwarming and comedic story about a spy who creates a fake family as part of his mission, only to find himself genuinely caring for them. The blend of action, humor, and family dynamics makes it a must-watch.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Swordsmith Village Arc - The latest arc in the Demon Slayer series, continuing the breathtaking animation and emotional storytelling that the series is known for.

My Hero Academia Season 6 - The heroes face their toughest challenges yet, with high stakes and intense battles that keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

This anime is peak comedy along with Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian a.k.a Russian Girl anime.

grin

Been having huge laughs with both shows.

I thought this season would be very weak but so far I've started following about 5-6 new shows

Absolutely agree with IGN on this review of Demon Slayer S4

The first episode and last 2 episodes of the season are the only good episodes worth watching tbh.

The rest were just boring pointless filler used to pad 5 manga chapters into 8 episodes. I've complained about this a few times before...the season was 95% filler

The Muzan entrance was cringe af.
And they did it twice as if it was something cool.
An entire 3 minutes if Muzan walking slowly into the mansion in episodes 7 and 8.
I had to forward it wtf

Man, I wish we could go back to the days when anime fans were just called weird losers. Nowadays, anime fans are called paedophiles for watching anime with petite characters who are canonically over 18.
That one concern their papa I like any anime character that I like.Wetin concern me and age for fictional character. But for the record I'm not into loli but I'll never shame another for their fantasies.

What do you guys think about representation in anime?

Personally I don't care about seeing black characters in anime or video games or whatever but what do you guys think should we get more black characters.

Japan is over 95% Japanese. Like, just imagine asking for Indian representation in Nollywood. Ridiculous, right?

That said, we have a couple of cool black characters in anime and manga such as: Lille Barro, Oh-Etsu, Charon, Avdol, Dutch, and Miguel to name a few. However, I like them because they are cool, not just because they are black.

As for black representation in media. I'm all for it. Black creators should make dope stuff with black people in it. Do a historical fantasy set in Nigeria. Do cyberpunk sci-fi set in dystopian future Lagos. Do an action-adventure set in the Sahel region, you get a cool desert backdrop, bladed weaponry, and many opportunities for cool costume design.

Japan, China, Korea, India, Mexico, etc put themselves on the entertainment map by making their own stuff with their own people, for their own people before foreigners saw them and got into them too. Black people should be doing the same instead of looking to other races to do it for us.

I want to see more cool stuff like Supa Strikas, Class of 3000, The Boondocks, etc and less lazy-ass race swaps in the name of "representation".

Beautiful take man.

@ Bolded 1 .I just imagined a scenario where one says this in a DEI filled office in America.E no go funny at all.

@ bolded 2 I have to agree that would be incredibly dope seeing things that you can actually relate to/understand as a Nigerian/black person not some could be wakandan or Ethiopian/Kenyan mashup that just leaves one confused everytime you see a black show.

Black is not common in Japan and I don't really like seeing black in anime or any Asia film.

It's normal and nice seeing black cast in another film industries, the way you see black and even white in most Korean films, I swr you will dislike them cus there style is way different from others.

For me: I don't like black or any other race in anime.

I kind of agree. I'm tired of seeing top 10 black characters when in reality they are all mid and easily forgettable. I mean tozen was blind and weak and died really early, yoruchi isn't all that but we no go hear word because African Americans must celebrate blackness every 3 market days.

Ignore the score and read the review...

There are lots of good points in the review but I agree the score was very harsh...

For me it was like a 6/10...
The last 2 episodes were really good but doesn't change the fact that the previous were poor and dragged out

Forget about reviews.....we watched with our very eyes.
Shit is getting weaker and weaker.....this season was a mess as far as I'm concerned.

Yoruichi is one of the baddest women in shonen. There are many reasons to like her and I can think of one very thicc one rn.

However, she most likely isn't black which is why I didn't mention her in my list. We've seen black characters in Bleach already and they have unambiguous features (hair lips, etc) that Yoruichi doesn't share. Not every dark skinned character is black and I find it extremely cringe when people try to claim otherwise.

This is where I disagree. We already have a lot of anime in non-Japanese and non-Asian settings. Are you really telling me that you don't like Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist, or Jojo's Bizzare Adventure because of that? Even though it's not explicitly mentioned, Bleach made the Espada Hispanic and the Quincies German. Hunter x Hunter has a whole bunch of characters from different parts of the world.

The main difference is that anime doesn't get hung up on race. They just depict characters and move on

AOT is a unique anime base on non Asian settings with few Japanese characters.

And as long as the anime is set in somewhere other than Japan there's nothing wrong in having black people in it

I didn't want to litter this thread with irrelevant pictures but I checked yesterday and I couldn't find a single review disparaging that abomination of a show. Yet the posted that horrible takes on demon slayer on their official account and you're subtly defending them.
