There are two main reasons Russia cannot wipe Ukraine;

1. Russia mission wasn't to "destroy" Ukraine.

The mission was to bully into submission; probably twist their arm, break an arm and a leg

2. The most important reason is not to show all their hands.

The world want to know the type of underground weapons Russia has.

You have not been following the war, there many mercenaries recruited by Putin, and China, India and North Korea has been supplying Russia with sophisticated weapons.
