President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has created the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development.

No minister has been announced yet for the new ministry.

The President announced the creation of the ministry on Tuesday, July 9, at the State House, while inaugurating the Renewed Hope livestock Reform Implementation Committee.

Present at the Inauguration were the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila amongst cabinet members.

Recall that President Tinubu on 15th September, 2023, approved the establishment of the Presidential Committee dedicated to the reform of the livestock industry and the provision of long-term solutions to recurring clashes between herders and farmers in the country.

The setting up of the committee was sequel to the submission of a report from the National Conference on Livestock Reforms and Mitigation of Associated Conflicts in Nigeria.

Yesterday, he ordered that Oronsaye report be implemented so he can reduce the number of ministries. Today, he has created a new ministry. Why not make it a department in the ministry of agriculture instead of a new ministry? That man no get sense!

I hope that so called ministry will encompass all livestock and not only cows and cattle cos we seem to know where this is going.
Instead to declare a total ban on open grazing of cattle and cows throughout the length and breath of Nigeria

Because we already have a ministry of agriculture where all segments will be so why another segment again with the name ministry of livestock.

Because as I always say,He cannot stand up to the North.

Tinubu's vision for Nigeria's agricultural sector is commendable and a muchneeded step towards increasing food security and economic growth, despite the challenges left behind by the 16 years of PDP rule.

Jagaban, the President with balls. Remember, how some northerns senators kicked against the creation of this ministry, citing an infrigment on the movements of citizens. Akpabio replied them that cows are not citizens of nigeria. With this, the era of open grazing is over and ranching has officially come to stay, enough of the mindless killings in the guise of farmer/herders clashes. Every cows must be restricted to ranches and let our farmers breathe.

At this point the whole nation would have to stand still to satisfy cattle herders.

We have farmers, fishermen, hunters, poultry and many others but "cattle herdsmen" will not let others rest until they spill blood.
I have never seen a group so invested in this backwards nomadic way of cattle breeding.
