Aren't human being also enjoying rail services in Nigeria?

Lol na you get time for those imbeciles! There is no difference between this and Ruga Buhari wanted to implement, just different name

The ministry will provide land for ranching, but because it’s a southern president now, expect it to sail through effortlessly

Tamed as how...they got exactly what they wanted. The Myetti Allah called for this weeks ago. They want the govt to assign funds to the Ministry, invest in land acquisition or work with the Govs, build the ranches and set up the system, then they will use it. They dont want to do all these or take on the Govs. I am sure that is their positon. Every year now, funds will be assigned to this Ministry for them to use. Like farmers, if they lose cattles, they wil want compensation, subsidy for feeds like fertilizers, subsidy for veterinary care and so on. The North won.

Is that not what we all want,

For them to stop destroying farmlands and embrace ranching? So now, if they get all of that because there is a ministry that tend to that now, does that stop you, who is a Westerner from ranching?

If you, a Westerner, begin a ranching business today, will you not benefit from this ministry?

We want the North to stop herding, and that's exactly what we will get... Wether through ministry creation or any other means, it doesn't matter.

Don't be miserable, this is not Ruga.
Ruga is all about creating grazing routes.

The North has finally been tamed.

They want to continue to live as though they are in the 1500, but things have changed.

What they do not understand is that, ranching is even more profitable than herding... But they've been too emotional about the whole thing.
Indeed. One of the mainstay of the Netherlands economy is organised livestock farming. Nigeria needs to head in the same direction.

God bless you. What the poster you responded to does not understand is the concept of how positive feedback encourages greater productivity.

Herders are stubborn because most are illiterates who do not know anything else other than the outdated pastoralist method of herding they believe is their only option.

With Tinubu's clever concession they will be exposed to new and modern training and ranching methods for rearing livestock that will make many Northerners rich through the lengthy value chain which will accompany Netherlands-style livestock farming.

Once the benefit of greater profit, more education/training plus more societal respect and commendation for Northern livestock farmers begins to resonate throughout Nigeria then they will be encouraged to do more and better. Open grazing will then naturally die.

Most people can change for the better but it is sometimes necessary to cajole them to change by introducing them to new and more effective ways of doing things.

Crucial to remember that an illiterate left to his own device, and not shown how to do thing in a better way, may do thing the same backward way he has done so since age 11 all the way to when he dies at age 90.

What Tinubu is doing is what visionary reformers do. They initiate new and better ways of doing things that then becomes the progressive norm for society.

Would that stop herdsmen from grazing into people's farms?
No, it won't! Why communities and individuals have not seen fit to boycott cattle and meat from these herdsmen even after all the reports of the damage and killings is beyond me.

There was a report some time ago that over 4000 people have been killed in the SouthWest alone in the last 9 years as a result of clashes between herdsmen and farmers/individuals. This is astounding evidence that the current grazing ideas are doing more damage to the people than ever before. Where was this same problem during Military rule? When will Nigerians wake up. undecided

How many cow can warri people consume? From warri they will still move it down to other parts of the south east and south south parts of the country. Nothing worthy of celebration here
Why are warri people still consuming cattle and beef provided by these herders? Why have the people not boycotted cattle and meat supplied by these herders? Thousands of lives have been lost and livelihoods destroyed, so why not boycott the goods brought in by these herders altogether? Why are people not willing to see that as they eat these meats they eat the meat of those who have lost their lives at the hands of these same gangsters - cattle herders who kill and destroy their farms and properties? undecided

Stop yapping nonsense! Tamed how? Bringing their cattle in by train only means increased access to southern states for whatever destruction and damage they wish to inflict. Nothing of this will stop them from damaging farms and ending lives for their cause. Open your brain up abeg! undecided

■ Hope you are hearing it now ? Not when Ebonyi fully developes its intra-state railway you’ll start to ask is it self sustainable ?🤦 As if many little countries in Eastern Europe with population of Ebonyi don’t have intra-state trains within their state even though there is not much profit. As if govt shouldn’t invest in economy through infrastructure As if a people don’t deserve infrastructure until they are rich.
We will start to ask if it is sustainable...? Of course! If the vast majority of the people in the land are poor and unable to afford even one ride of the supposed intra-state railway, it makes sense to ask such a question. You point to the situation of little countries in Eastern Europe, and I wonder how many of those little countries lack infrastructure for decent water supply, good roads, well thought-out and developed educational system, and power supply, in a place like Ebonyi and most states in Nigeria do undecided

To be rich means to have basic infrastructure in place which you can then build upon as you go forward.

Why not boycott meat supplied by these herders altogether? All the blood and sweat of farmers were destroyed along the way by their Fulani herders should be enough reason for you to boycott their goods altogether. So why do you still support their trade and abuse of your local people? undecided

Good initiative by NRC. It should be extended to other food items too. As the facilities improve, there should be chilled wagons to move perishable food across the country. Great leaders don’t run from problems, they embrace and find solutions to it. God bless NRC leadership. God bless the president
A good initiative to give them quicker access to the Southern states where they will go on to continue to inflict more damage to lives and livelihoods? Wow!!! shocked shocked shocked

For real? How did you guys begin to have some of this ideas? The question is, do you rear cows? That is less likely... But if I ask wether you have eaten cow this year, I can bet on it that your answer is several Yes.

There is nothing wrong with bringing in cow into southern part... And what cause do you refer to here?

You are just full of fears and loaded with theories...

Herdsmen and farmers clash has been happening in Nigeria before your grandparents were born, all we just have to do is do everything possible to mitigate the possible occurrence... And one of those ways is to discourage grazing by making provisions or alternatives.

If I ask you now that what is your solution to open grazing, I know for sure that your brain cannot ptofer any solution... It is easy to criticise bruh, what is hard is providing solutions.

Solution to open grazing, you ask. Did you know that most countries in the world including the United States already have solutions to this? You never hear of clashes between farmers, property owners, and cattle herders in those countries because those solutions work very well and can easily and seamlessly be copied to resolve the Nigerian situation. Asking me for a solution means you are aware of how incompetent what your current lawmakers have in place does not work at all. undecided

I was compelled to keep arguing and explaining to most people here, but your contribution speaks a lot of volume. So I will share your contribution instead.

At some point, I thought the only people who make contributions on Nairaland are dumb and couldn't think on their own, but you have proven me wrong...

Please, always try your best to make contributions here, we need people like you to help us intensify educating people on here...

God bless you boss.
