What I know is that Yorubas came from Saudi Arabia while Igbos migrated from Israel. Igbos are one of the lost tribes of the Jews. It's not as if Israel is peaceful and leading the world like US that we are claiming to come from there but it is what it is, your ancestry remains your ancestry whether good or bad. We are not like Ikwerre people who are.denying their Igbo bloodline just because Igbos lost civil war and just because of crude oil politics and as Ikwerre people claim they came from Bini kingdom, Oba of Bini disputed the lie and said Ikwerre people are Igbo people.

Kola nut also grow in Igbo land. We had one Kola nut tree in my family compound while growing up. So the kola nut story is not entirely true. But I love Ooni and I respect him so much, so I cannot say Ooni is lying, he must know one or two things we none Royals might not know but he needs to research deeper beyond this kola nut story to convince more people about his story.

Maybe Yorubas and Igbos might have shared same family background back in MiddleEast where both tribes migrated from because the Yoruba and Igbo dialect share some similarities in word meanings. And all over Yoruba land, they always have an Ile Igbo this and that, there must something about that.

I know Ooni is not happy with the disunity between Igbos and Yorubas of recent and maybe trying to use this history to calm situation down, and I commend him for that but of the truth, the unity between Yorubas and Igbos today is in the hands of Yorubas to make it work because Igbos have done more than enough for Yorubas to foster unity but Yorubas always repay Igbos with disdain.

Igbos voted MKO Abiola (in 1993, Southeast had just 4 states, MKO won Anambra and lost 3 other SE states to Tofa. But the 3 SE states he lost to Tofa, he got over 40% of total votes cast which means Tofa won him there with very narrow margin despite the fact that Tofa had an Igbo running mate Sylvester Ugo. )

Igbos spearheaded the fight for the release of Obasanjo from jail (go and read about Chris Anyanwu and co)

Igbos voted Obasanjo twice leaving eminent Igbos like Ojukwu and co.

Ogbonnaya Onu collapsed his political structure for Olu Falae to become flagbearer and we then had two Yorubas contesting for President in 1999 yet Yorubas refuse to repay all these.

They forgot all these in 2023 even as their honest elites tried to correct them and remind them of all these.

Today a Yoruba man Tinubu is President, he have another opportunity to unite Igbos and Yorubas, but will he do it? Let's watch and see
Yoruba's Ile Ugbo has nothing to do with Ibo who were named Onigbo by the Bini and Igala who colonized the Ibo. It was Igala and Bini who named the Ibo as Igbo to begin with. Igbo means slave in Igala and Bini language.

Secondly, Ibo hardly voted Abiola. Rather they were doing 100000 man march for Abacha while Yoruba were fighting for Nigeria democracy which everyone, including yourself enjoy today. It was the Yoruba democracy fight which brought in Obasanjo. Don't also forget the fact that Ibo murdered other people's regional leaders except Ibo leaders in the 60's.

As a matter of fact, You're just spewing trash laced with your usual covetousness for other people's territory. Dem swear for you? It's even funny how you stated that Yoruba came from Arab while Ibo came from Israel . Lol. Meanwhile, Ibo don't even have Eurasian admixture to begin with thus can't say they're Israel or Arabs. Let me also point to you that even though Yoruba have got several reasons to claim Israelites due to the fact that the Yoruba have got similar cultural names for the supreme creator as the Israelites, as well as the Yoruba's tradition of making the second twin the elder (Akobi) of the twins like the case of J(akob), yet Yoruba preferred to be regarded as Yoruba because Yoruba have got beautiful heritage nonetheless, even if they were Israelites or not, thus don't need to claim anything. As a matter of fact, Yoruba are simply Yoruba (Omoluabi)! Let that sink in.

As for Ooni, Ooni was probably trying to indulge the Ibo by wanting to give an identity to the Ibo since Ibo don't have any yet some ungrateful Ibo clowns started to insult him while some even started to covet Yoruba territory. Lol. Just imagine. Meanwhile, it was the Igala and the Bini who named the Ibo as Onigbo or eeyan Igbo

Typical Yoruba person always lying against Igbo based on lies, propaganda and hearsay.

Will you keep quiet? Was it not Ibo who murdered other people's regional leaders except the Ibo leaders in the 60's? So what gibberish are you saying exactly?

Meanwhile, Did Abiola even win in the SE except in one state ? And when Yoruba was even fighting for democracy afterwards, Ibo rather preferred doing 100000 man march for Abacha yet the Ibo, including yourself are enjoying the democracy today.

Fajuyi even died for an Ibo man, how was Yoruba repaid after it? What about Banjo, a Yoruba man who led all the successful Biafra Battles, how was he repaid by the useless covetous greedy Ojukwu who was coveting Yoruba territory? So you should be the one who should reflect on your evil ways and stop hating the Yoruba unwarranted. Stop coveting Yoruba territory too. It's criminality.

As for anyone wailing today, I won't even take anyone seriously except he clamour for the return of regionalism. Any useless idiot wailing today is only doing it for his useless ulterior motives. If he's serious about the country, he will call for the arrest of Buhari who looted the country dry with his criminal cronies and also, he will also ask for a return back to regionalism because Nigeria can't continue in the same stupid system. Heck, regionalism was the best highlight of the country.

I watched a TV presentation where an igbo local historian claimed the same thing.

I don't really know which of these.
All of at the south of Niger share common origin.

In fact, Ifá Oracle and Afa in Igbo, Nupe, Igalà, Ebira.... is a common deity worshipped by all.

There are four episodes in the series. Try and watch all. Bloggers, especially enthusiasts with no knowledge of history are causing damage to our existence.
@MightySparrow,

This is the video you posted on page 1 of this thread that made me to originally mention your moniker in my post that you quoted earlier today. I have a limited time to spend online, but I'm already responding to that post of yours in full. As a veteran of Nigerian and global history for over 4 decades since the year 1980, who has learned from the works of great historians such Prof. Osuntokun and Prof. Banji Akintoye, Prof. Toyin Falola, etc., I ONLY deal with FACTS not "confirmation bias." The presence of Ifa divination and Babalawos (otherwise called Ifa priests) in the Yoruba religion which based on studies of worldwide experts historically have their liturgical roots from Yorubaland even before the rise of the Oduduwa Dynasty in Ufe (Ife) leading to the arrival of Oduduwa from Oke Ora just 8 miles from Ufe. The presence of IFA and Yoruba deities such as Ogun, Osun, Esu, Elegba, etc, in other nearby linguistic groups of Igala, Bini-Edo, Ebiras, Nupes, Fons, Ewes, etc, is as a RESULT of the many centuries of the fanning out of Yoruba migratory settlements and trade influences of the Eastern Yoruba subgroups close to the River Niger and Southern Yoruba subgroups, the Ife Kingdom and the Oyo Empire on the Igalas, Bini-Edos (via the Yoruba town of USEN in Ovia South West of Edo State which was founded by Oranmiyan's older brother and they speak the Yoruba dialect of Ife and also the Bini language because they are bilingual being very close to Benin), the Nupes, Fons, Ewes, also have the knowledge of Ifa divination as well. The Nri also got Ifa divination from the contacts with IGALAS through ERI (who is called NRI by the Nri-Awka people) who was an Igala Prince from Idah and we know that Igalas are a Yoruboid people and the Nri of Anambra call or corrupted IFA to "Afa." In Haiti, the Vodun NOT the FAKE or fictional Hollywood movie creation called Voodoo used to demonize Haitians over the centuries since the successful Haitian Revolution that chased the French away from Haiti (spelled as Voudou in French), is ALSO CLEARLY a fusion of the Yoruba Ifa religion, Ewe and Fon religious elements.

Second, I've watched all the 4 video parts associated with this video interview and the young male guest called Mazi (who is NOT more than 35 years of age) in the Part 1 to 4 of the video was CLEARLY engaging in verbal sophistry most of the time. He was factual in some situations BUT LARGELY, he had embarrassingly LIED with huge knowledge gaps in most of his submissions. Those of us who have had decades of exposures to the archival materials and historical experts CAN easily spot these knowledge gaps in this video interview. Only impressionable, fresh and mid-level learners would be taken in by the young man's unintelligent sophistry with regards to historical, linguistic and archaeological events. One moment, he admitted that the people called Ibos of today did NOT collectively call themselves Ibos (Igbos) but were known by their individual clan names such as Nri Oka (Awka), Mbaise, Ngwa, etc, and in another breath, he acknowledges the relationship of the IGALAS with the Jukuns of Taraba State (OR Kworarafas) BUT leaves out the strong link of how IGALAS came into existence from the MERGER of other ethnicities with the strong Yoruba lineage and linguistic influences on what is now the Igalas (which emerged within the last 700 years). The last Attah of Igalaland, HRM Michael Ameh Oboni CLEARLY stated these FACTS in a 2017 Sunday Punch newspaper interview about the fusion of JUKUN migrants from Wukari with a significant number of YORUBAS and EDOS at the River Niger confluence near Idah to create the IGALA people and language of today. The interview can still be gleaned online. To be CLEAR, the Igala influences on what is now the Northern Ibo areas of Anambra and Enugu States in the Igala-associated communities is just 500 years old. Read the Weblink right BELOW to read the Attah of Igala's insightful 2017 interview.

116 THE IGALA TRADITIONAL RELIGIOUS BELIEF SYSTEM (& IFA Divination)
Igala is a language of the Yoruboid branch of the Defoid. The defoid languages constitute a branch of the Benue Congo language family. It comprises the Igala and the Itsekiri group.

On the other hand, the interviewer and owner of that YouTube channel called Nna * (who I have been following for some years now) is also someone who selectively goes to Ibo-speaking or Iboid-speaking communities to find out if they identify as Ibos or NOT. He tends to select a few folks who would fit into his narrative but fails to realize that some communities such as Asaba, Aboh, Onitsha, Agbor or Ika, Aniocha in Delta North area of Delta State all have multiple clans and multiple ethnic origins of immigration from Igala, Yoruba, Bini, Esan, Nri, etc. If some of them say they are NOT Ibos, he starts to get a bit pushy or prodding in attempts to make them accept they are Ibo. There are some folks in the Akoko Edo area of Edo State and some Ebiras who speak Yoruba and even bear Yoruba names due to intermarriages and from acculturation due to living along the border areas, but do NOT identify as Yorubas and I DON'T see Yoruba folks harassing them all over the Internet and social media platforms like some of these younger generation of Ibos are doing in an overbearing and irritating ways, laced with a lot of hate speeches and outright falsifications of historical events on Ibo secessionist and propaganda Websites that have existed online since the late 1990s.

Right BELOW are Parts 3 & 4 Final Parts of the Video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw9jcITkuWk

~~~~~~~~
In Part 3 of the video, this so-called Mazi Dibia FALSELY claims that Esans are "Ibos" but even before that interview, many Esan-Edo folks here on Nairaland and on the Internet had condemned the lies being peddled by secessionists and propaganda Websites that they are Ibo. Indeed, the Esan-Edo dialect is up to 90 percent SIMILAR to the Bini-Edo language in words and pronunciations. The highly DISHONEST young person called Mazi also peddles FALSE information in this video that "Obatala" who is from Ufe (Ile Ife) is from his side of Iboland, East of River Niger and also FALSELY claims in the video that "70 Ibos kings" have rule Ife. This is how some of these young Ibos (especially from Anambra) go about creating propaganda and secessionist blogs and videos FALSIFYING and claiming other ethnic groups' histories. Mazi like his fellow younger Ibos who engage in sophistry suffer from deep VICTIM mentality and low self-esteem hence they tell LIES about the origin of Ijebu Igbo (which unknown to these semi-literates was founded by Yorubas from Ijebu Ode. Ijebu Ode being the main INNER town while Ijebu Igbo emphasizes OUTER Ijebu). There is NO ancestral link whatsoever with the Ibo groups in the Ibo South East of the River Niger. Period.
In Part 4 from the very beginning, this young man called Mazi continues with his irresponsible and asinine attempts at intellectual sophistry gleaned from propaganda blogs by FALSELY claiming that Yoruba is a "derogatory" name (sic) which is CLEARLY false! The Hausas NEVER used a derogatory name on Yorubas and even today in the media they use the official term "Yarbawa" to refer to Yoruba folks. People from Kano are called "Kanawa," and those from Katsina are called "Katsinawa"... the suffix "WA" always ends the naming of ethnicities in the Hausa language. The Yoruba etymology is from "Oyo Oba" which is a name that emphasizes the preeminence of the Oyo Empire among other Yoruba subgroups whose boundaries stretched from Nigeria to Benin Republic and Togo. Oyo Empire included Oyos and various Yoruba subgroups [minus Ufe (Ife), Ijesas, Ekitis, and the Ondo State subgroups], parts of the Nupes, parts of the Baribas, the Fon (a fusion of Yoruba and Aja people gave birth to the Fons of Benin Republic), Ewes, Ogus (a further fusion of Yorubas and Fon) etc. These are the folks who made up the Oyo Empire at it's peak in the 1700s! This is how the Yoruba religion (Ifa) spread to areas that folks of Yoruba ancestry had colonial and trade contacts with along the West Coast of Africa from the River Niger confluence areas right up to Ghana. IFA became corrupted to Afa in pronunciation in some areas such as the Nri (who also had contact with Eri an Igala Prince, and we know that the Igalas being a Yoruboid group with Yoruba ancestry also practice IFA divination especially when a new Attah of Igala is about to be CROWNED as stated in the 2017 interview link above by the then Attah of Igalaland, HRM Michael Ameh Oboni.
P.S. Sophistry is tricking someone by making a seemingly clever argument, like a philosopher who argues that up is down and somehow convinces you. If you accuse someone of sophistry, you mean they'll lie to make a point.
The works of experts debunk your claims. I will like you to listen to this clip, just find some of the references, especially those that more than a hundred years and read.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dw7eUuui5Pk?si=sJ4p8LNmcOCbNBQ9
Besides, I have wondered when a babalawo told me that the Ifá Oracle and his own Sand for divination were the same. The Sand (I don't know the name) came from Arabia. I now found out that the same is practiced among igala, Igbo, Benin, Ebira.... All those Oòni mentioned. If these was not brought from the same origin, it must have been learned from the original owner. Who is this owner? Among all these playmates, here are similarities in language before the advent of Islam and Christianity that corrupt what we have now.
From where these languages intersect?
More scientific reasoning than myths should be used in finding our history. You talk about Obi of Onitsha, I believe as the custodian of the culture and history of his people, certain things are known to him and are believed amongst his people. Wether you take it or not, this is their palace truth.
All of us, lower of the Niger, are of common origin. Dishonesty and superiority complex is all you see on blogs. They don't serve any scholarly usefulness.
@MightySparrow,
If you still recollect, we last had a major convo on the NL thread where the ancestral origins of the Doherty family (of Lagos Island and Ilaro). I had stated my findings afterwards that the patriach of the Doherty family was a Prince from Ilaro in present-day Ogun State.
I've only had a limited time to spend online everyday within the last few days and I also had to take the time and effort to give you this detailed feedback with references that you can then usecm to unveil legit historical info on the "origins of Ifa divination" and more.
First off, I appreciate your sharing of the audio recording above with me. I listened to it with an open mind as a veteran of the advanced history of Nigeria, West Africa, and more since the 1980. So, I'm very well-informed on the subject matter here and I CLEARLY gave and attached to my post that you quoted specific screenshots from books over 100 years old detailing out the meaning of the DEROGATORY word used to describe the primitive bush dwelling tribes that engaged in cannibalism East of River Niger which is Ibo, Onigbo (as used derogatorily by the Igalas/Yoruba), and Onye Igbo (as used derogatorily by Asaba and Onitsha indigenes) to describe those primitive bush dwellers.
Second, I want to emphasize again that based on how long I have been into this since 1980, I didn't just stumble on history from "blogs" like you seemed to infer in your post. My knowledge comes from real world research and reading of several credible historical books and archival materials from historians like the European, Reverend George Basden who lived in Onitsha as a Missionary for 34 years and wrote the book "Among the Ibos of Nigeria," Austin J. Shelton who wrote the book entitled: "The Ibo-Igala Borderland," the great Prof. Toyin Falola, Professor Banji Akintoye and Professor Jide Osuntokun (the former Nigerian Ambassador to Germany) who are both iconic sons of the Ekiti folks and Yorubaland. So, if you had carefully read and digested my earlier post which you quoted properly, there is NO where in that my original post that experts disagree with me.
Third, I listened CAREFULLY to the recording of the young man who was code-switching between Yoruba and English on the "Relationship between Benin and Yorubas" and he DIDN'T say anything that contradicted my position. Any credible historian and lover of archaeology, MUST be open to all historical variables and NOT engage in "confirmation bias" like a lot of the younger ones online and offline like to do by engaging in the copying and pasting of non-credible information from crappy blogs and poorly written secessionist propaganda Websites.
So, in my last post that you quoted here, I stated in addition to other historical specifics how the few Yoruba-derived words found in Ibo as LOAN words got there just a few hundred years ago or within the last 500 years via the Igalas people (a Yoruboid group) who are also indigenous to Delta, Anambra, and the Northern part of Enugu State. The Igalas greatly changed the "historiology" of the Northern areas of the South East of Nigeria and it was the Igalas who also FIRST introduced the RED CHIEFTAINCY CAP into the Nsukka area of Enugu from where it spread to other parts of the Ibo South East. Infact the Nsukka area was under the Attah of Igala and I have attached video interviews (which you can find in my other post directly above) from Igala kings in the Northern parts of Enugu State in this post BELOW and also the video interview with an Onitsha high Chief on why Onitsha folks DON'T call themselves Ibos because of their multiple ethnic origins starting from the 1600s from Igala, Bini, and Ibo (some Ogidi, and Ojoko migrants came in later to join them).
Did YOU know that in 2017, the late Attah of Igalaland, HRM Michael Ameh Oboni granted an interview to the Sunday Punch newspaper where he clearly stated that before an Attah of Igala is crowned from any of the ruling houses, Ifa divination is first of all done by Ifa priests (Babalawos)?
He also stated in that exclusive interview that Igala people and language came into existence through the FUSION of a group of people who migrated along the banks of River Benue and got to the confluence of the River Niger where they met with a significant number of Yorubas and then the Edos. That was how the Igala language was formed over the last 600 years. This is ALSO CLEARLY why Igala language is classified by linguists as a Yoruboid language because it contains a lot of Yoruba words in it to such an extent that Igala contains many Yoruba words in it (than even the few loan Yoruba words in Ibo). I'm emphasizing here and now that the Yoruba language and words in the Igala language got there as a result of the Yoruba bloodlines that FUSED into the larger Igala folks who consisted of more than one ethnic group. The Igalas share direct boundaries with the Ibo areas in Anambra and Enugu States.
Read the Weblink right BELOW to read the Attah of Igala's insightful 2017 interview.
The presence of Ifa divination via Ifa Priests or Babalawos, etc, in Igalaland is as a result of the Yoruba connection and worldwide, credible historians acknowledge Yorubaland to be the ORIGIN of the IFA divination.
With reference to the comments of the Obi of Onitsha, (Onitsha was first settled in the year 1550 (450 years ago) which is relatively recent in the history of African and Nigerian migration), the Obi of Onitsha said in a 2018 Ofala Festival documentary video that I watched back then that he has Bini, Igala, and Ibo ancestry and gave an account of how just in 1550, the Igala folks ferried with their boats his ancestors who came originally from Idu (Benin) across the River Niger from the Asaba area after being told by the Igala fisherman of the presence of fertile land in what is NOW Onitsha. The Asaba population foundation too is ORIGINALLY of Igala male descent who went by the name of Nnebisi whose father was a full-blooded Igala man from the present Kogi State who impregnated a young maiden from Agbakuba village in Nteje which is one of the historically Igala-associated communities now in Anambra State. Nnebisi of Asaba himself married an Igala woman being that his father was an Igala. The nearby town of Illah also has Igala ancestral roots which even Asaba traditions CLEARLY corroborate.
