Twenty Local Government Chairmen and their deputies have been sworn-in in Awka, the Anambra State Capital by the State Governor, Peter Obi.
This follows a clean sweep of the Anambra State Local Government election over the weekend.

The newly elected chairmen and their deputies were later given their Certificates of Return by the Chairman of the State Electoral Commission.

This is the first local council election in Anambra State since 1998.

Although, there were many calls for the postponement of the elections, it held on Saturday, January 11, and has been described by many as free and fair.

Sometime last year, the issue of PO not conducting local government elections came up, and it was debunked as fake news.

PO conducted local government elections during his tenure as governor. In this era of the internet, issues like these shouldn't be a problem, as people can easily verify facts.
