The next things is to scrap the SIEC and inec should be the one conducting the election of local government same day with governorship and house assembly election that is when we will have development, because everybody we focus on governance.

It's quite unfortunate that we have a president that's ineptitude and clueless. There's so much rot in the system caused by buhari's abysmal 8 years rule that needs to be cleaned

The Supreme court ruling simply reasserted the Constitution in this case. So why would it want to scrap SIEC when SIEC is not the problem? undecided

How can it be a victory for democracy when the Supreme Court merely reasserted, as it did during the Buhari regime, the Constitution, highlighting the unconstitutional conduct of state governors who dip their hands in the LG account? undecided

I don't understand you people. The Constitution is clear on the officers to decide on how the money in the LG accounts should be distributed — the National assembly and state assemblies are involved; the Governor has no say or authority at all in this. Your governors are guilty of violating the very Constitution on which the country and states and local governments are founded. Why do you not react by suing them? Why do you not react by calling for their immediate impeachment? Why do you not react at all? This ruling by the Supreme Court will not cause anything to happen because, for something to, the people have to step forward and demand it. undecided

Unfortunately you can't just dissolve his office anymore...
SmartPolician:
Let's see how this whole autonomy thing will play out in the future, considering that governors have been the ones rigging LGA chairmen into offices. If Governor A rigs you into office and tells you to send him your LGA allocation, will you have the guts to say no?

For this autonomy to truly work, Abuja INEC has to start conducting LGA elections because what state RECs are doing is no election - governors reward political appointees in sham LGA elections.

There's no point to jubilate. This is because a new set of brigands and treasury rapists have been ordained to steal ruthlessly from the funds meant to provide amenities for the masses.

It's basically a widening of the malfeasance and corruption net.

Just watch and see how mega problems will start at that level of Government as those criminal hawks known as governors will start plotting the removal of LG chairmen who fail to remit certain percentages of the LG allocations to them.

See, until the people rise and throw out this scallywags from office and reclaim their country, it's gonna remain a-looting-continua

THE NEXT THING IS TO HAVE THE ELECTIONS CONDUCTED BY INEC AND NOT THE STATE ELECTORAL BODY !

There are people walking away with billions of Naira, people without immunity. Dont be deceived with that immunity façade.

Your former minister of power has billions sitting in his account. He has no immunity and all these court talks na shenanigans. He's going to enjoy his loot.

I applaud Tinubu on this, this is leadership with courage
From his first speech at the swearing in ground, he has shown courage. Right there on the swearing in I, he abolished Fuel Subsidy and FOREX subsidy, two things that Abdulsalami Abubakar, Olusegun Obasanjo, Umar Yar'Adua, Goatluck Jonathan, anf Muhammadu Buhari could not do for over 30 years
