competition with the local farmers would cause both sides to bring down prices! The greedy local farmers are increasing prices of foodstuffs unnecessarily, even when they're not significantly impacted by forex or fuel cost.

It's about time each state took AGRICULTURE seriously and invest heavily on sufficiency, especially on crops and animals, that can feed her people comfortably. Thereafter, they can maximize the efforts to include exports exploitation for improved IGR, employment opportunities and other economic values.
Iit's time the southern governors realized that we can't continue to rely heavily on the north alone for FOOD if we must diversify the economy, empower and unlock the potential of each states. Time we took our future in our hands and turn it around for the best. We'll surely win this game. We must!

Let the ministries create their own task force a d interloping agency to solve their own issues!

I do agree with you that importation is part of the solution...actually FREE TRADE is what I would recommend. Nigerians should be free to import and export EVERY LEGAL PRODUCT to and from ANYWHERE in the world AND with ZERO tariffs or taxes of any kind.

Trade restrictions encourage corruption. Ask your nearest Nigeria Customs officer.
