Two storey building collapsed this morning in abuja just happened around 6:30am many people trapped investigation ongoing.

Many trapped as Abuja building collapses [Photos]

A section of a two-storey residential apartment collapsed in Abuja on Saturday morning, with several people trapped in the rubble.

Vanguard reports that the building located beside the popular Cupid Hotel on Cupid Road (Sultan Dasuki Way) in Kubwa was formerly a hotel, Al-Hilal. It later became a hospital, but since the hospital owners quit the premises, it became a residential apartment.

While emergency responders and security personnel were on ground, rescue efforts were hampered as the cranes needed for the rescue were yet to arrive as of 8:45 am, nearly two hours after the incident.

Vanguard gathered that two persons had, however, been rushed to a nearby hospital, while a few others escaped on their own.

One of the escapees who did not want to reveal her identity said that when she woke up around 7 a.m. and came out of the house, she began hearing some cracks and then ran out.

Buildings have already started collapsing in Abuja of yesterday. When did the FCT become a federal capital that houses built yesterday are already collapsing?

The government needs to enforce building standards and regulations to end this once and for all. Apart from corruption, what have we gotten right in this country?

Dangote needs to be invited by the House of Reps.

This is no longer about builders but cement manufacturers in Nigeria need to be grilled and cautioned.

They produce substandard cement and still sell it at exorbitant price to struggling Nigerians yet government and SON does nothing to checkmate them

I'm beginning to suspect that some of you are being paid to promote tribal wars on Nairaland. Because nothing about the news or location has anything to do with the Rochas or Igbos. And this happens on so many threads nowadays
