The Lagos State Command Police PRO, SP Benjamin Hundeyin has reacted to the viral reports of a 17-year-old resident who was reportedly raped inside Ogudu Police Station in the Ojota area of the state.

Hundeyin reacted to the reports on his official X.com account, where he wrote:

'Suspect now in custody'

News360 Nigeria reports that, an officer attached to the station had promised to help the teenager retrieve her phone, which was stolen by ‘one chance’ robbers.

The suspect was said to have overheard the victim recounting her ordeal to her mother at her shop and offered to help track the phone.

According to the victim's account, the officer lured her to his office, locked the door, and threatened her with a gun before sexually assaulting her.

The incident has sparked outrage and calls for justice across Nigeria.

It is not enough to arrest him. The entire police station should be probed. It is definitely a rape house where they all participated and enabled each other. Likely from the DPO down to the constables.

It just happened that one of them chose the wrong victim.

As that 17 year old entered into the station every one of them knew what was going to happen. They more or less orchestrated it.

I hope other victims from the area come forward and cook them

Most ladies who end up in a police station even for minor cases like "compound fights" may have been raped by police officers.

I personally know many of them who get to be attacked inside their cells and raped by police right there in the station in the night.

As a lady, if you mistakenly find yourself in a police station, and worse off in a police cell, and you hear a question like "is anyone and who is coming to get you?" Please say "Yes, my lawyer or a lawyer friend or an uncle big man is coming."

The Question was just to test the possible consequence of raping you. That is if there will be anyone that will make them account for their actions of raping you. Never say "Nobody" in a police station. The policemen will gang rape you.

The punishment for erring policeman or force man should be different and stricklier than a civilian so others will learn lesson from it.
