The idea is good but it should be done by FRCN and not police, the cost should be reduced and laws should be made to ensure the information obtained should not be abused

NBA better go to court rather than giving any ultimatum
In some matters you have to exhaust all available remedies before you approach the COURT. Failure to do this will rob the court the requisite jurisdiction to adjudicate on the matter.

If a car gets stolen and it's butchered and sold in parts ,please of what use is the electronic registration.

Abeg they should go and develop intelligence and learn to forstall crime before it happens

So it’s now police duty to collect money and issue a certificate. Like has Nigeria gotten to that level where police now charge vehicle owners for a certificate? So police are now law makers

this was the same grammar they spoke about BVN and NIN. up till now, terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, corruption and faud go on unabated
Everything is for the purpose of looting by extortion and not for the main purpose it should be. More and more is still coming. I said it like a decade ago that it will get to a time the government will turn to it citizens and start extorting money from them when the national cake is no longer enough for them

if the highest police officer could be this ignorant or/and corrupt you can imagine how hopeless and useless the rest of the bunch is.

The average southerner has more greed and corruption in their DNA than the average aboki.

Jonathan scammed us with compulsory new number plates and driver's license claiming it was for security purposes.

Now instead of the police to collect and synchronise data from sister agencies like FRSC and others, they are asking vehicle owners nationwide to register again with them after paying and registering with VIO and FRSC.

There are over 40 million vehicles in this country, now do the maths and calculate the amount these corrupt, thieving police is targeting here.

This is worse in rivers, Delta and Lagos(na where i experienced this).was extorted about 5k at Rivers State boundary with Imo State last year, the police checkpoint there is more than 4....it made me made the decision that police on the road ain't gonna see my dime again and since then, have not given them anything....

Dshocker:
As at 2018, there are 11,826,033 registered vehicles in Nigeria.

With that statistic, it means the Nigeria police force would generate the sum of N70,956,198,000.

And i am certain that there are over 30,000,000 registered cars as of today.

Walahi, these people are thieves, they just want to embezzle from the masses.
The era of unnecessary and crazy taxes is here.

The Big Joe.....I use to argue at the foreign affairs section when other African nations say our educational level is low.

It's only in a grossly uneducated backward country that police can try this to start with. Remember there are lawyers within the police force who know how illegal this directive is, but they went on with it because they know majority of Nigerians will not challenge it.

Same way they harass motorists on the road and call it routine stop and search

Safari Hunter, Are you really a NIGERIAN? Am asking o cos I doubt your sense of judgement very much or could it be that you are just a JOKE. I will volunteer to do that E- CMR if actually the IG and the entire police force will endorse what they claim that it's going to be use for. Car theft......if my car is stolen or vandalized....Police will be held responsible. If there is Terrorism within my jurisdiction.....Police will be held accountable, ....if there's cybercrime of any type at all and my car has E-CMR.......police are the culprit and will be held responsible. Anything at all in regards to Vehicular theft etc......Police will be 💯 accountable and responsible.

All these I listed above are more than what Nigeria as a country can fathom talk less of a notorious and dirty police department.

Safari Hunter, abeg you, stop that JOKE of saying it's a good thing.

Every idiots close to Tinubu including Tinubu sef are cashing out on NIGERIANS and Police too aren't left out. They are trying their Luck too....

SafariHunter:
Sincerely the policy is a good one and will help in curbing crime but the police doesn't need to charge citizens for this. The police has a long history of extorting Nigerians and this is seems to be another way.

ANOTHER FORM OF POLICE TAXATION.
Police should make it FREE or share data with motor licensing authotities.
NIGERIA POLICE are mostly UNIFORMED EXTORTIONISTS from what I have observed.

If really it's for the purpose, the NPF can sponsor this programme and make it free.

Why can't the police work with the licensing offices who already have all the data listed. From engine no, chasis no, owners details, insurance, to vehicle license. What is really wrong with us. So we can't think straight? What's the problem?
Re: NBA Gives IG Seven Days To Stop CMRIS Certificate Issuance by opeldavid: 10:03am On Jul 14, 2024
Nice idea, good policy if well implemented.
But the payment part is the problem. Why must we have to pay?
