All this external advisers should let Nigeria breath

We urgently need food importation at the moment, the local ones are simply not enough

See price of pepper and rice, why can't we import if we can? Then gradually on the side we continue to massively ramp up production

That's how IMF and world bank are both shouting we should unified exchange rate and remove subsidy at the same very time, now we see where that has taken us

Tinubu should open the border and let some food item comes in to lower food cost, then the governors should budget heavily for food production why FG also support massively
Have you asked urself what caused the food scarcity in the first place?

Taking it's last breathe if nothing is done to arrest the slow poison of subsidising what we should be producing in this country as food and agricultural product.

We're very opportunistic in this country, do you know how they bastardize the subsidies on fertilizer in the north. Anything the government subsidizes will be abused and not serve is intended purpose

He's just advising us n i don't he's one of d external advisers because he is a Nigerian n one time minister of Agriculture! We need to produce our own food ourselves at all cost. It is very embarrassing n disturbing dt we re depending on imported food for survival!

First when he was agric ministar, wasn't nigeria importing food, atleast border wasn't closed then

With insecurity, artificial inflation by middle men and market groups, northern conspiracy and subsidy removal

How does he want innocent people to survive? If not by external intervention

Rubbish advice, he doesn't feel the pain

When he was minister, what did he do

Food was imported into the country

No country produces all its food by herself, it's not possible

Not even now with the peculiarities nigeria find herself

You keep getting it wrong. How come Nigerian farmers are so poor and yet you believe they have been making crazy profit?
How come farming communities are the most underdeveloped?
If farming has been so lucrative, everyone will be farming by now.

In.a normal situation, borders should be open since Nigerian food and other products also end up being exported. Any clamp down.on importation benefits only corrupt customs people. Let the government focus on making production of food and everything easy in the country since that is part of their job description
Re: Food Importation May Destroy Nigeria’s Agric Sector – Akinwumi Adesina by billagreen(m): 9:58am On Jul 14, 2024
I have only read the headline and what I can say is there's shouldn't be any debate what food importation may cause for the agric sector,

The agricultural sector needs to give us data on what's been produced, quantity, and where its been taking to, however data should be provided on what Nigerians consume/demand so if these data are available then we can know what to import from other countries,
Or the agricultural sector wants to continue holding us at ransome... They produce and the export as such depriving the country of what used to be enough

I support you too big time. You don't wait for all your citizens to die of starvation before you do the right thing to feed them beside, a drowing man least care about that enemy that try to save him. That's the story of Nigeria presently, Nigeria situation is beyond economic policies and theories. We have broken records of all standard economics theories and policies. Nigeria is immune to standard economic development as taught in Harvard and Yale University. London School of Economics is even confused about the general development and sustainability of the Citizens of Nigerian despite the galloping inflation couple with the animalistic monetary policies plus the government kleptomaniacs tendencies of brutal and sadistic corruptions. Every credible solution solver of economic downturn has given up on Nigeria because it's glaringly sure that we are GUNNER.....Otilor....Nigeria is a gone....long long time ago.....Also, It's a confirmed sadness that Every NIGERIA Leaders are thieves....President and cabinets and lockers plus tables, Senators, House Of Reps members, Governors and his cabinets. MDAS and other parastatals, LGAS and Councillors.....etc.....Nigerian leadership are thieves of no return....when a Nigeria gets to a post of leadership they always steal to the last. They aspire to steal while pretending to act to help the people that votes them in the first place....

It will not destroy it. The market is very big with very high prices for local agric sector to flourish along with the imported food items. Its market forces. The local production can knock back the imported ones on its own. They dont need government to stop food imports

It is cos akinwumi advice didn't factor in dire situation on ground

Obj, gej, yaradua, didn't lock borders to food import, even with low dollars price and subsidy in place

Moreover now with oil subsidy removed and devalued naira

For me open border was the next thing to do after both hardship policy tinubu implemented

It was buhari that started it and still nigeria didn't achieve food availability and affordability
