its good to see that she can achieve this feat in a northern educational institution. but what is more important, her age and gender or her ability to do the job of an SUG president effectively?

All southern schools dey choke for admission because students plenty. All schools in the SE, SW, SS.
Most southern students go the north to study because to get admission is easier due to the low number of people willing to study in that region.

Meanwhile, I was a Deputy to a Jos guy who was the Departmental President back then when my Educational journey began at a well known Institute in Enugu. Is there any difference

Northerners, male or female have a herd mentality.

Employ one at your gate for instance and before a week gone, twenty are sleeping at your gate.
They don't easily mingle with other tribes, that's why they prefer to sleep on the streets than rent an accomodation where they cohabit with other tribes
A core northern girl won't even seek admission in any university outside the north.
Besides, nekede poly won't admit someone with a jamb score of 2.
