I mean, he plays with intelligent players who know where to give him the ball to maximize his output. There is nobody in the England National team that is excellent at half-turns and receiving the ball in tight spaces but he was setting screens for Declan Rice to pass the ball back to Mainoo and Stones - then you turn around and blame Foden for not creating?

I will still blame him because he supposed to know the two teams are different or he is just a system player. A good player shines at any condition. He was passing backward too. South supposed to bench him for Palmer who can play in any condition.

So In all these Foden didn't receive any ball whether through knockdowns or from any player in attacking phase?

There's a reason Southgate chose Foden for that task and not someone like Gallagher. The role you just said they gave Foden is what Gallagher is efficient at but the attacking facet will die along with him. And that's why Foden was given that role to balance both facets of the game.

I trust Mount of Chelsea for this job sha. If na Mount, him go do that role well and still try attackingly even though he's not as creative as Foden

Rice mostly good at carrying the ball at Arsenal. Southgate instructed him to mostly sit in this tournament to protect the back 4. Foden mostly operate in final third at man city because Rodri and KDB already doing the forward passes. Foden should’ve been coming from the bench if South Gate understand football. Palmer from RW would’ve suited the team more than Foden since he got that one time passes in him, Maino rice and bellingham as the midfielders. With Palmer, Kane could’ve see the need to stay upfront. But then again, Epl player of the season have to be justified by continue playing Foden even when he has being below par for England since his debut.
