[/b]Tunji-Ojo gives reasons why contactless passport registration has not started[b]


The honorable minister of interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has explained why contactless biometric exercise for passport acquisition is yet to kickstart. The minister stated this while featuring on channels TV programme, Politics Today anchored by Seun Okibaloye.

The minster pegged the delay on the data centre which is now fully established and data migration is ongoing.

"Contactless Biometric would have gone live, we have finished the solution, but what was the problem, there was no data centre, we were leveraging all along on one of our services provider, they have been very magnanimous, helping us with our data centre, and since the Nigeria immigration service must be in total control of Nigerians data, what did we do? We established the data centre and today, if you get to NIS HQ, we have a Tier 4, 1.4 PetaBytes data centre that is there. What is left, is to do our data migration then the contactless application can commence."

The data of citizens should be secured and ensuring that the data centre is up and running is a good idea. I believe in no time, well enjoy seamless and contactless passport application.

BTO may have jumped processes while talking with journalist but if we measure what we have now to what we use to have,then we appreciate BTO for doggedness..

The contactless passport application is a work in progress

Nigerians needed to be patient with processing, this man is trying to do many things at once, I am not even sure he sleeps at night because of his activity, corrections center, passport processing, NIMC, immigration and others. Haaa I pray God should help him to achieve success in all his doing.

What we should own this Man is our appreciation, his really doing a great work.

DatA migration is the key here and it's not something that can be handled carelessly.
If well handled success is sure

Data management system is a complex task. The delay is understandable.

Giving excuses for a supposed to be executed constitutional responsibility is already an admission of failure demanding resignation or being fired from that office. No room for excuses in government or private businesses, but in this side of the world mediocrity and psycophancy are the order of the day.

It’s safe to say that this man is the most hardworking and versatile minister so far in President Tinubu’s administration.

The time we need to wait for the full automation and contactless process of application for the Nigerian passport, as promised by Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, can never be up to the long years we have waited to get things right with the application and issuance of our passports. Patience, understanding and sincerity of heart are needed by Nigerians to get to the promised land on this matter and other similar ones.

After watching this video, all I can say is that the minister have a valid reason as he has concluded the data center and command. Data migration is highly crucial and should be completed before the NIS Full automation and contactless Process.
