1month showdown? But pls don't touch bank and nerc /ibedc staff's
You know the funny thing is that the % people that are not benefitting from minimum wage is far higher than the total NLC. Now you want to shutdown economy for one month when only 2 weeks of lockdown due to COVID-19 sent many families early grave and broken many homes. Well, I trust nigerians, we are only shifting the duties to night duty. Everyday Once it's 4pm, vehicles and marketplace opens and they will increase prices of items well well that when ajairo finishes the one month holiday the minimum wage gotten is useless.

The problem with your comment is that you assume anyone who disagrees with you is a slave.

Plus, it is rude to abuse people. Calling someone a slave shows you are not ready to find out why he is saying what he is saying...even if he is a government supproter.

But here is the hard truth. We need a minimum wage of at least 250000 naira monthly. The effing problem is

1. We are not earning enough money...yes that is APC's fault and also the fault of past governments that refused to diversify the economy, meaning a growing populaiton has to rely on a shrinking oil income

2.We are still struggling with corruption.

3.We are not a producing nation which impacts on our revenue

4.We are not ready to cut subsides completely, which means monies that could have gone to minimum wage goes to paying subsides on petrol

5. If government prints more money to pay the new minimum wage....things would get worse re inflation. And we are still dealing with the inflation from government printing money in the recent past. Want more of that?

6. Tax revenue is less than 20% of government revenue. Tax uptake is damm too low. THat impacts on revenue overall for thingslike salary increases.

7. The private sector cannot afford new minnium wages.

8. We are not a producer economy. Yes, I said it again.

It's not as easy as it looks. YES, the government should not buy expensive yacht, and government should stop padding budget....but at the end, a budget of less than 30 trillion naira annually and a debt north of 122 bn dollars is going to impact government ability to pay new wage increases.

And yes, we should not have voted for APC In 2015, or 2023, but if we had voted OBi last year...like we should have, he would have faced a lot of issues starting with debt serivice eating 90% of our revneue. And cutting government spending and corruption won't make much of a dent in that.

We need to make some hard decisions...and as someone who does not like any of the parties. I see none of them doing that, and it is effing annoying.

FG and state governors keep collecting bogus loans with nothing to show for it. We say No to scrapping of minimum wage through fraudulently delisting it from exclusive to concurrent list. This will only be acceptable if each senator also agrees to collect the same minimum wage applicable in their respective state

He hasn't shown impressive leadership from day one.

These wicked leaders will soon pay for their wickedness

Wetin concern my post with that one?

na workers and government problem be that. They should fight it out, I support whatever both sides decides to do as long as it is well within their right.

But don't infringe on my own right by commiting the act of terrorism of putting the entire nation into darkness because you are fighting for your own right. That's my own.

shocked

They can afford over 10 million dollars yatch but can't pay the minimum wage.
They can afford over 100 million dollars private jet, when they already have 10 already, but can't pay minimum wage.

They buy luxury houses in Nigeria and abroad own most expensive cars, clothes, send the kids to the best schools abroad and only give 20 trucks of rice to share for each state and their e-rats are jubilating over it.

On the issue of minimum wage, federal govt should allow state control of resources before allowing each state to pay its own minimum wage
do you realise that the private sector employs more people? Minimum wage is not only about FG.

Your state Governor said they cannot pay even the old minimum wage, let alone the new, that big brother Federal Government should talk to Labor and beg on your behalf?

Now, You want to blame the FG for your own shortcomings?
It is amusing to see a scammer defending govt though
Much like politicians who defect for protection from answering for their looting

That is not the case bro, it's simple logic, when you shutdown economy you can't get it back to its previous status, it's not new, Oshimole did a lot of shutdown and today is the result because prices must go up and will not return back to normal at every minimum wage year. Or, how much was a bag of rice in the minimum wage years 2014, 2019 & 2024 will simply goes to 250k per bag of rice if implemented. So workers can just ask for anything they care for without consideration on economy? , forget about national assembly or government salaries or buys jets etc. salary is continues every month. 250k is not realistic even at some oil servicing firms with lesser staff strength. Ok how did you want Local government to pay minimum of 250k? what are they producing to justify that monthly pay for say a security or gateman? Etc with staff strength of over 1000 people. Now, if implemented, How will my tailor or barber or food vendors collect his or her own minimum wage? Just tell me if not by increasing the prices of Thier own goods and services. so what next?
