I think there is a confusion here. For Graduate Engineers, they did not interview for any particular role. I thought this guy said he applied for Graduate Engineer?

No, the splitting is done after medicals. They have done medicals and still not split the candidates.

I believe the guy was most likely interviewed for the Graduate Internship role. He didn't apply for the internship and they were interested in his profile, so they had to use his Graduate Engineer application to shortlist him for the Internship role.
My thoughts, I may be wrong tho.
