Hello Nairaland,

I am seeking advice on relocating to either Germany or Canada at the beginning of next year. I currently work remotely as the sole UI/UX designer for a tech company in Nigeria. I am married and in my late 20s. The idea of relocating has been on my mind for a few months now, and I have seriously been considering leaving the country. I hold a degree in Electrical Engineering.

A friend suggested that I could move through a study program, but I am not sure if I can focus on academics at the moment. I am keen to hear how others have successfully and legitimately relocated. My wife is insistent that I shouldn’t leave the country without her, so I am planning for both of us to move together.

I would appreciate any advice on how to proceed with relocating to either Germany or Canada. If you prefer to share detailed information privately, my email is in my signature.

Except Canada PR which is now very hard to get you aren't leaving Nigeria anytime soon. To get a German study visa appointment if you didn't graduate with a first class degree in the last 2 years takes more than 18 months currently.

If I was you, I will try learning french aggressively between now and next year and focus on getting PR to Canada. With 18 million on student visa you go too suffer eh

well, i don't have any input regarding the relocation but you said you're in your late 20's married. I gotta ask, how long have you been a UI/UX designer?

18 million naira is too low for a student visa to Canada. If you manage to get the visa how are you gonna survive there. Pay the full tuition fees and living expenses. Also studying in Canada is no more a sure path to getting PR like years ago. People are suffering seriously but they will never come online to say it. Forget about finding a job and using it to pay fees as people are unemployed for more than one year now.

There's a German study visa thread but it takes two years to get a visa appointment through the study route if you didn't graduate with a first class in the last 2 years.

Do not come to Canada as a student , that money will only take you to a mushroom college. You or your wife should go learn French and do canada express entry PR

Just joking. If madam get 2:1 in her first degree with high IELTS score, a budget of 20m+ naira can take both of you to UK.

She as MSc by research course, you as dependent

Another option is German opportunity card but you have to wait for about one year to get a slot if you are applying from Nigeria

Thanks for the information. However, due to the criticism I've heard about the UK, I've decided to remove it from my list of options

Is 20 million really enough for UK. I don't think 20 million naira is up to 10000 pounds. How much is full UK tuition and living expenses. It's risky to leave Nigeria and hope to complete tuition from working abroad o hmmm

There are currently over 1.8m students in Canada with yearly economic PR target of 500k, those inside Canada will probably get around half of that quota. So you spend millions uncertainty and suffering

the current PM and his party are projected to lose next year elections. The conservative guys will tie PR to job offers as was the initial system before this current PM changed it.

Exactly things are gonna get more difficult so it's best you make your decisions immediately and Nigeria will only get worst especially under Tunubu

Anyways, he has removed UK as from his list. I really understand his concerns so no further comment

Learnt this lesson the hard way. The more you waste time, the more the immigration laws changes and economic situation in Nigeria deteriorates.

What ever you do face Europe

You would have access to more European countries as time goes

The challange is dt
With such money
U can establish ur business in a bigger form

Considering also
Japa with such an amount go still gurantee ur future
In an excellent way

So nigeria is full of confusion

All I can say is, make sure you carry your wife along.

If you're not ready to learn German, don't move to Germany... That's it.
