I'm more impressed that they had to do a six month training to immerse themselves into the setting and better understand their character.

I like that dedication and will watch...even though you will never see me watching a nollywood movie.

The plot and thought process is way too slow for me.
I love the military settings and vibes in the movie but it's a bit overhyped saying the cast went into 6 months training with the military just to be able to act their parts because I didn't seen any genuine military moves from the actors all through the movie...

The historical Nollywood film "76" - a multi-award-winning film directed by Izu Ojukwu that takes you back to the 1976 military coup in Nigeria
The coup actually took place in 1975, not 1976. They only used "76" as the title so as to be on a safe side that the movie is just a figment of human creation and not a real reflection of what took place in the 1975 coup.

MODIFIED: ExudeLoveToAll, thank you - I can now see that the movie was based off the unsuccessful Dimka coup.

I must say the main characters in this epic seat-on-edge film were really impressive especially Ramsey Noah and Chidi Mokem given that they have no military drill background except the ones acquired in the course of producing this movie.

Shot mainly @ Letmauk Barracks, Mokola-Ibadan, Oyo State; the cars, custume, social life and environment setting were just the ideal type given that it was the former 4th Battalion Barracks in the 1960-1970s Nigeria.

All the areas used for the movie were well familiar turfs especially the parade ground that is often used for the WASA ceremonies( I will do a thread on that one day) while my pop served with the army. Shout out to fellow barrack boys and girls folks all over. We rock!
Nwanne you're very intelligent.
I like the way you write.

There was a coup on the 29th of July 1975(Muritala as head of state and another on the 13th of February 1976 (OBJ as head of state)

Check your facts correctly, you are wrong for saying there wasn't a coup in 1976. Apparently the movie may have described the 1976 coup which brought OBJ to power.

It is on amazon prime. A very relatable film for me as I spent about 3 years of my life in military cantonment with my Uncle as my parents want me to learn discipline. RIP my beloved Maj Gen O.O(a.k.a Capo) You.didnt have to warn or punish me. Your impeccable
character was enough to set one straight.
LegendHero:
I’ve watched the movie. It was fantastic.

I think it’s been around for years tho. Watched it last year or last 2 years. Can’t remember.
