They both made the right choice in the interest of the party and self interest.

Umahi for self and party interest:
Another election to that senatorial seat occupied by Umahi will be won buy APC in Ebonyi. @least 80%assurance. It is a win win for APC and Umahi.

As for Lalong, if he remained a minister and another by-election is conducted , it will cost APC that senatorial seat, because there was 60% assurance that APC would lose that seat. Court gave APC that senatorial seat. So it is in the party interest to be a senator, while party replace Lalong with APC loyalist. Even though, PBAT is yet to appoint another ministerial nominee for Plateau State.

Lalong is currently a senator. He is the immediate past governor of Plateau state. He was appointed minister of Labour, but resigned his ministerial position when the court declared him senator of his senatorial zone.

Considering the uncertainties and failure of this govt so far, who do you think made the right decision between the two of them?

Umahi made the right choice and all can see he's performing in your so called government of failure! I don't know what you had achieved in your lifetime, though?

Two of them are the worst of the worst,Lalong don't mind if fulani wiped his whole village out so long his in good term with buhari,as for umahi who was naming everything in ebonyi with Buhari's name, umahi who was going about shouting to others igbos how buhari is best thing that happened to igbos thinking buhari will make him predident grin

today his slogans changed is now tinubu is best in the history of Nigeria, may god keep us alive In 4 years to come we shall ask him how is coastal road going

Nigerian politicians don't care about reputation.
They are just after the money.
Umahi will be given the APC senatorial ticket for his constituency in 2027.
If he wins and Tinubu is reelected, he'll resign again and become a minister.
If Tinubu loses, he'll continue as a senator.

But Lalloong did say Ministerial work is tedious. He opted for senate because he wants easy life and unquestionable looting/free constituency allowance.

With the major milestone waiting to be achieved with the various landmark projects, Umahi will find it easy to retain his job as Tinubu gets his second term mandate.

Lagos-Calabar project and others is a big one for Tinubu and Umahi.

Lalong is clueless and dimwit. He was the campaign DG of BAT, he couldn't make the first list of ministers which is strange. He knew he will be fired and had to run to the Senate. Idiot that lost his senate seat, if not for the corrupt appeal court which all plateau PDP members lost their legislative seats (NASS & state assembly). He just an opportunist.

Minister position is far better than a senator. I give it up to Umahi💯.

Both cases are unique from different aspect Umahi left Senate to a juicy position of ministry of works which is the best situation on his part while along left a dry ministry to Senate. Both politicians made right decisions.

The only thing that disqualified Lalong from becoming president as a northerner is because he isn't a Fulani man.

The choice made by Simon Lalong to protect the Plateau South Senatorial position, was in the interest of the party (APC). If he had chosen to remain as a minister, there would have been a re-run election which could have probably been won by the PDP.
On the other hand, Dave Umahi chose to relinquish his Senatorial position for ministerial position because the APC is more popular in Eboyin than the PDP, based on the 2023 election results .. He has also performed well as a minister of works.

This is the person that understands policitics.

Agreed both made a very wise and good decisions.

Lalong knew his candidature was very unpopular and could be replace within a year or two, while Umahi was very certain he would remain a minister for 4 years.

Don't be deceived, Umahi's decision was selfish and to return his immediate elder brother to the senate who was the initial flag bearer while he (Umahi) was contesting for the APC presidential position.

Umahi was to run as Ahmed Lawan's VP had the plan worked. After Tinubu dislodged their plans, he returned to his state while his brother resigned as the flag bearer, prompting INEC to conduct another Ebonyi South APC senatorial primaries. Then Umahi picked up the ticket. So he planned to reward his brother but that plan caused a big issue because everyone criticized him. How Umahi "won" the senatorial election against the choice of his people for the LP candidate is a talk for another day. No thanks to INEC & judiciary.

Like Wike, like Umahi. Umahi's plan for 2031 is to be VP to a Northerner after Tinubu for the APC 2031 North-South ticket. While there is doubt in the public if Wike would work with Tinubu for his 8 years because of his character and controversies, there is no such doubt about Umahi because he knows how to play to the gallery and worship anyone to get what he wants. He is composed and "smart".

Therefore, Lalong's choice is the best because it is an elected position
