If you were a staff of a PRIVATE company receiving 25k per month, and they say they cannot pay you 70k but can manage to pay you 50k, would you accept it or prefer to refuse so that the company can close down and you return to the labour market with no certainty of a new job in the next few months?
Most companies are still not going to pay up to minimum wage and nothing will happen. In fact I know of some people that kneel down to greet their bosses just for paying them salaries, not to talk of if the boss now decides to add just 10 - 15k to their salary instead of the commensurate minimum wage pay

Close down.They think the companies would manufacture money from the air.
Even the old wage many private companies cannot afford because business has generally been depressed,high cost,low sales.
It's mainly financial institutions,oil companies,servicing companies,construction companies,big and multinational companies that can afford to pay.
Even at that,some may have to lay off workers to pay.
Some people naively think minimum wage means the lowest paid worker will earn the 70k and others will earn the higher wages they were earning before.
It doesn't work that way;there will be a general salary increase from the lowest to the oga at the top to reflect salarity disparity and years in the workforce,at different percentage increases.
There is no doubt wage has to increase,but how does it reflect in the private sector,especially medium to small scale businesses.Unfortnately it won't.
I hope we don't see another Udoji salary increase calamity because babablublu has so far shown that he doesn't think we'll or have the capacity to think through actions before making rash and calamitous pronouncements.

Despite the fact you have been informed by others here that minimum wage is not for every employer of labour in the private sector, you still want to mislead the public with misinformation.
If you don't have 25 staff and above in your payroll as a private employer of labour, you're exempted.

So , the private schools in your village with less than that number of staff is not part of it.

God knows I can never work for any private organization lailai. One week is too long for me and the oga to start fighting except it's my husband's organization.
