Ignore Ekpa’s Sit-at-home Order, Says Enugu Gov by Noerection(op): 10:13am On Jul 21, 2024
The Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, has urged residents of the South-East region to disregard the sit-at-home orders of the Finland-based leader of the Autopilot, Simon Ekpa.

Mbah accused Ekpa of feeding fat on the emotions and sufferings of the Igbo people.

The governor stated this when he received members of the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence, during an oversight working visit to the state to inspect the construction of the Department of State Services training institute at Awgu.

Mbah added that his administration was committed to ending illegal sit-at-home hitherto enforced by non-state actors that held the people hostage both psychologically and economically.

The governor said, “He (Ekpa) creates some kind of siege atmosphere and thrives on it to make a living, continuing to extort and exploit our people, who may not be aware, and telling them that he is fighting for their interest.

“How can you claim you love our people, a people known for hard work in our DNA, and sit somewhere to dictate to us when to go to work and when not to go to work? So, I want to also take this opportunity to call on our people to disregard this threat. We have demonstrated our capacity to provide security for our people and we will continue to do so through the help of our security agencies.

“We cannot be intimidated. We cannot submit ourselves to this siege atmosphere he wants to create in the South-East. We treasure our hard work as a people. So, you cannot love a people and all you do is at the very expense of their existence just to grow followership and gain cheap publicity.

“I’m also calling on the youths, not to fall for these sorts of cheap antics because this is completely antithetical to our belief system. It contradicts our values and opposes our work ethics.”

Also speaking, the Chairman of the House Committee on National Security and Intelligence, Ahmed Satomi, described Mbah as a worthy example for other states in security and good governance.

This means Igbo are about to finally gain independence in 2024

It's long overdue

Otti should do same. This should be a bigger reason to protest and shut down the SE

Nothing bro.

it impoverished the region more, led to more killings, chased investors out of the region and also encouraged mass exodus of people from the region, out to go litter other regions

The result has been net negative

As in, someone sits somewhere halfway across the world, and order the so called bravest tribe of Africa to sit at home, 99% of them will comply, later, they will come online to call others cowards and slaves. Thank God we have eyes to see the real cowards and slaves.

Sit at home can rest for now. What we need right now in the SE is the type of protest that will shake the very foundation of the region

Oya.

Imagine the places where the protest should have started from.

The forced sit at home is almost 2 years now if not over.

Charity should start from the backyard
