If the government wants and encourages it's citizens to invest in steel plants, Dangote wouldn't be complaining.

Personally I have never liked this Dangote's model of business.He is always entitled to this Monopolistic mindset.I know how past government policies favoured him against others in the same industry and this unjust decision made him big.He is rich but i rate a Strive Masiyiwa more than him even though the former is richer than him.

Dangote Refinery products are priced at an international benchmark. 1) he doesn’t have to sell his products in Nigeria 2) he will make more money not doing so. 3) there is always an international market for his products 4) it is better for him to bybass Nigeria and our wahala. 5) anybody who thinks he can “show” Dangote should not waste his time lobbying international investors.

Dangote is bigger than Nigeria like it or not…..at least for now. Dangote is Nigeria’s no1 ambassador. His voice is vastly greater, he has more clout, what happens to him is more important to the global business /investment community that anything any govt official says or does. If anybody thinks he is trying to get at Dangote, let him know he is getting at Nigeria, you kill Dangote, you kill Nigeria. It doesn’t matter how he got to where he is, he is there now. Again Dangote is bigger than Nigeria. Dangote is not Aliko Dangote, Dangote is an institution and a pillar of Nigeria. You cannot destroy Dangote without destroying Nigeria.

I can't believe dangote is shelving his proposed Steel investment because of fear of being labelled a monopoly, is it not his money he will spend? He probably have discovered the investment won't be viable. Nigeria doesn't even have a good quality Ore and so he'll need to import raw materials from elsewhere if he must produce good quality iron bars. This is the major reason Ajaokuta steel company is not flying at optimum levels.
