The Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly, NEYGA, says it has withdrawn from the planned August 1 nationwide protest over the state of the nation.

The group instead called on Nigerian youths and student bodies to give President Bola Tinubu more time to implement his economic reforms.

NEYGA, comprising minority tribes in Northern Nigeria, admitted that the current challenges facing the country were a legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Noting that it didn’t protest against Buhari’s government, the group said it has realized that protesting now may jeopardize national unity.

It stated that Nigeria has faced difficult times, periods of unrest, and moments that tested its resilience.

In a statement by the spokesperson of NEYGA, Ibrahim Dan-Musa, on Sunday, the group urged Nigerians to give Tinubu a chance, noting that his reforms were taking shape, paving the way for a better future.

“We appeal to other Arewa groups to acknowledge that Nigeria’s challenges are a shared responsibility.

“President Tinubu needs more time to implement his plans for the country. The ongoing reforms offer hope for a better future,” Dan-Musa said.

According to him, the Tinubu-led presidency presents a fresh opportunity for transformation.

This is exactly why we have been calling on the eastern and southern parts of Nigeria to desist from any planned protest, they will "collect" from the back and leave you high and dry, it's all politics.

If you are a young struggling person in Nigeria, pray for peace, they have made their arrangements and it's all against you and your future. The people who are there at the top are devil's, stone hearted witches who cannot see you progress.

What chances do you have against such wicked people with armouredcars and big guns. They will kill you and accuse you of being a Yoruba nation agitator terrorist. Just go to work and pray to God for peace, if the protest starts, the poor masses will be the worse for it.
