I'm in support. Many people were threatening fire and brimstone when asking Govt to pay 250k minimum wage thinking it was only going to affect public workers. Now they are changing mouth. Pls maintain same energy in ensuring your private/domestic workers earn the same wage.

Story for the gods! I can authoritatively tell you that majority of Nigerian companies don't provide meals for their employees. Some employers just choose to treat their staffers well because they believe it has a connection to productivity. However, in most Nigerian companies (especially start-ups), workers don't get meals.

I don't support the law. If implemented, and followed through, these househelps would lose their jobs. How many parents can afford it?

In addition, do the lawmakers know that the minimum wage is only applicable to companies with a minimum of 30 employees? I think I got that number right.

The law in reality is therefore useless to those who know this detail.

I support the senator on this one every person deserved a minimum wage not only civil servant domestic workers also have their need to attend to

This guys are really mad.what is the percentage increase on people salary.You earn 250k after increase in minimum wage and pay you househelp 70k.Well more jobless people will be added to the market.I expected this guys to be talking about employers paying their staffs per hour so people could do several job to meet up the increase in living cost.useless people.

Not a logically valid argument bro. If some dedicate themselves to you 24/7, meaning a second or third job to boost their income is out of the question, while career advancement opportunity is nil, the least they should be paid is minimum wage or even above.

Go to civilised nations to note many live-in maid, Nannies and carers earn more than some professionals.

In the so called saner climes that Nigerians run to, they cannot have a maid beyond regular working hours (9hrs) and at minimum wage standards, and some countries totally outlaw live-in work arrangements.

So to even have a live in maid, it must come at a very hefty cost regardless of the accommodation and food you are providing for your own benefit and not the maid's benefit.

Obviously, you could not be bothered about anyone besides your own selfish self, and would likely avoid paying what is due to your domestic servants.

I don't see any reason why government will be the one to increase this prices just like telling them to add more money to what they are already looting .. each business owner is suppose to plan there businesses to increase wages when inflation hit and also promotion ..
