I am still learning, even those of us that have been in the Senate for sixteen years we are still learning so we will do well to continue to learn.

But in the course of talking to one of my distinguished sisters, that she should speak whenever she is recognised I made reference to the fact that we are not in a nightclub where people have to shout above the noise of the music and the social media went agog.

I am not on social media but my wife called me that people got angry and published her number and said they should occupy her line so she used to receive over 2000 to 3000 phone calls a day. And I tried to put on one of my phones, the number was in the public and you find out the phone crashed after about three hours.

So, I am very happy with the interest generated by Nigerians with what goes on in this chamber because we are here to cater for their interests. For them to be interested with what goes on here, means that we are connecting with the people directly and it will have been terrible if we are doing all this work and the people are not even aware of what we are doing.

But the communication was totally misunderstood instead of taking it for the nature of what we said that you should not shout when you are talking and speak only when you are recognized, they went into private abuses. I don't want to say what they did to me, I think I do not merit it. I was telling the DSP that he is the one they should be talking to because in my tradition we marry only one wife so they listed so many wives on social media.

I don't know how you took it but I feel I should tender a public apology to you.

I guess due to the level of corruption and lawlessness that have been tolerated from him by the all corruption-caste government Godswill Akpabio is subserving, he tends to be tongue loose.

The man always speaks first before he thinks as someone whose brain is very far away( 100KM) from him. How a moral baggage like Akpabio became the Senate President of Nigeria is a testament of the criminalization of government. EFCC, ICPC, DSS, NPF certified this man fits for political office? Chai!

Akpabio lacks tact in his speeches & is clearly unfit for such sensitive position of Senate President.

How did nightclub come into the picture? Market would have been better though it is best to just draw her attention to the house rule that she has to be recognized before she can speak. This could have been done without even using market in the statement

I'm frm Akwa Ibom and that man has never been my favourite governor so don`t come here nd generalize. Only lazy folks who think that an administration that runs a paliative economy is the best just like what the current fg is doing. Who is Akpabio when when Victor Atah is mentioned?

I thought Abati was trying to justify the statement and defend Akpabio. It looked like Rufai was overzealous but he stood his ground that it was sexist and derogatory to refer to the night club, something Akpabio cannot say to a man. Sometimes our 'elders' will not say the truth the way it is, yet they want respect from young people. That's how yesterday he said Onanuga had some evidence to his statement about Obi sponsoring a protest only for Orjy who is not a lawyer to remind him that he who alleges must prove.

Abati is smart and intelligent but sometimes, your opinion is not always right because you have already taken sides. If you even tell us from the start that you have some bias, it is okay but not when you try to school us and defend what is not right.

Akpabio has a loose mouth too, it is not about learning. Saraki did not spend so much time to learn to know that there are some things you don't say. The truth is Akpabio did not deserve that seat and it is only a matter of time before he is kicked out of there. He makes expensive jokes and he tries to placate everyone. It is what you have when there is imposter syndrome, this time you feel like you are the imposter. If you got there on merit, there is this confidence that will back you up no matter whose ox is gored. This is why he doesn't want to offend the Executive.

You already have Senators grumbling that the Senate is always defending the executive and that's because Akpabio's backing is from the executive, not the legislature. When things get heated, they will find a way to send him out. That's when he will learn the hard way. It is just a matter of time. Akpabio is the metaphor for you can't give what you don't have.
