Definitely one of the best TV shows I've watched to come out this year.
It's a dark comedy drama of some sort about a down on his luck aspiring comedian and his unrelenting st@lker. Superb character work on the two main cast.

It tells a tale of obse£ssion, self-hate, narcissism, lüst, abuse, inferiority, manipulation and along the line develops into a journey of self discovery, hope, strength and resilience. A masterpiece.

The actors was so darn good at portraying the characters that you can't help to just hate some for their personality or the other for his utter naivety and stupídity. Which goes to highlight the perfect job done by its actors.
It was painfully annoying at times and plays with your emotions all through, flexing its narrative superiority and how it wants you to feel. It's a top tier show.

Now I see the hype and the rave about this show. Richard Gadd truly deserves his Emmy nominations for this masterpiece and he's the biggest favourite to bag that award. No surprises here.

It's the best show Netflix has put out since Beef for me.

The comedy was so dark and brilliant and yet the serious undertone message the show was trying to pass was not lost. Brilliant Brilliant show. 👏🏾

I still love the show, but I'm getting reminded how much more better Game of Thrones is to HOTD.

Rhaenyra's character this season has been awfully written. She's basically complaining every episode about how no one let's her fight and how her council doesn't respect her.

Worse still, she went ahead to start a lesbian relationship out of nowhere with no chemistry??

Anytime they cut back to Daemon, I feel like slapping the TV because I'm tired of the constant hallucinations he keeps seeing. They've wasted Daemon this entire season...its like they didn't know what to do with him for 6 episodes so they just kept him there hallucinating and it's getting boring and repititive.

The Greens are the only interesting side this season tbh...

But even the whole thing with the smallfolk didn't feel very convincing...

With what i am seeing online with the season 2 of house of dragons.
It may seems as though a lot of people are not satisfied with the way this season is going.

I was hoping HBO would take us by suprise like the way Amazon took us by suprise with the season 2 of the wheels of time which was 200 times much more improvement than season 1.

Anyways i stopped at episode 2 because i want to bingewatch the whole season, upon completion.
Hopefully episode 7 and 8 can do the trick.

Shows like 'About to die' ages like wine 🍷.
At first the show won't trend but after few weeks and month, that is when people start to watch the show and boom, the show is trending everywhere.
Just watch and observe, during the month of August till December, you will see how the show will trend especially the scene where the lion got into the arena.

On me comparing it with the game of thrones, i was just comparing just the political sides of it, the politics and plots in 'about to die' are much more dirtier and dark than that of games of thrones.

First of all, Hawks girlfriend (Moon) is bisexual. She kissed a girl (Piper) after breaking up with him. So, there is gay stuff in cobra kai (season 2 sha)

Secondly, conservatives are stagnant people. They never want to move forward with time. Fun fact, conservative policies in America are not popular- eg privatized healthcare, abortions, christian theocracy etc. It is only in America where such conservative policies can exist. European conservatives are liberal by American standards

well i will still give them a pass.
Just one girl on girl kiss scene for six seasons is still a pass.
We are talking about more than 50 episodes with only one scene of a girl kissing another girl that didn't even last up to 20 seconds.

It's still a pass and my respect goes to the creators of the show.

Your rating for this series was funny to me and the fact people were complaining you overrate movies ..

so I decided to try it out and I was blown away it’s a solid 10/10 so far as I’m just 3 episodes in …. Now this is a proper Roman series ..
I love the Alchemy of its different characters and their Storylines …
Hopefully it remains intriguing to the final episodes and it gets renewed for season 2

Easily one of the best shows in 2024.

How do peeps expect them to tell the struggles and the toll the war took on the people? The division in Rhaenyra's council, the unending brutal feud in the Riverlands, the politics in King's Landing? Daemon's inner demons and resentment for Rhaenyra for taking his precious throne?
Y'all just watch for the big scenes, memorable decisions and fail to see subtle details and character groundwork which includes other complex intricacies that adds to the overall story.

It's very obvious, many people are watching it for the action. Claiming Game of Thrones had better flow than this na lamba....cos I remember being bored to death by GOT for the first 3 seasons. Things only picked up at the end of S3. GOT is even ladden with talk, talk, talk almost all seasons with occasional fights and battle scenes in between.

AppleTv + has consistently been putting out better shows than Netflix for the past 2 years or so, with very high quality production value and rich story. I remember seeing "For all Mankind" for the first time, and it was genuinely the best moon landing media i had seen in a while, visually stunning in every sense of it!.

Now, the major problem i think Apple Tv + has it's poor marketing, and a market already saturated by other streaming platforms, there shows can easily get swallowed up, and lose reach, without proper marketing campaign. Their catalogue is so rich, but people don't just know about these shows!. I was talking about how good "Bad Sisters" was on X on time, and so many people genuinely hadn't heard of it at that time. I mean this show has a perfect 100% score on RT!.

The iPhone brand has made Apple so strong financially that could actually afford to fail in the streaming business and it wouldn't even bite their money chest, but Netflix's sole business is streaming and that's why they make sure their shows and movies are in everybody's faces and they have a wider reach, and most importantly support a wider range of devices and platforms than Apple Tv + does.

Apple TV + should heavily invest in strategic, aggressive marketing. I mean their biggest trump card in years has been "Severance" and more than 2 years after, they are still struggling to put out a S2. Also they should stop the nonsense Apple Ecosystem gimmick, and support a wide range of devices and platforms, including Android phones from Android 10 and later, at least. Apple music being available on Android, worked wonders for it, and it's one of the top music streaming platforms worldwide at the moment.

So cutting back on funds for making media wouldn't help imo, the simple solution might just be to invest in marketing and a little tweak in operations.

Apple TV+ biggest problem is marketing. A lot of their shows go under the radar. Even their movies released in theatres have all flopped no matter who's helming or directing.
They should just fire their marketing team and hire from seasoned professionals or poach from other rival companies from the traditional studios.

Yep, Apple TV+ has a bigger than life parent company that they can afford to lose money in streaming business for 5 years straight and they wouldn't be so much bothered.

But wait, you mean to tell me the streamer is only available to Apple ecosystem? Lol, how do they even intend to expand if that's true? I understand they launched with their ecosystem in mind based on the built in Apple services but not expanding to android its foolhardy.

I expected this cut back tho, it's been a general industry trend no matter how deep the pockets are. Amazon did same despite them and Apple being in the same category. I was wondering few days back how Apple kept up with its spending based on the fact that almost all their shows have very good production quality and don't come cheap. Same as their multimillion dollar films.

From what I've heard, this seems to be an issue with the show only. I heard in the books, Rhaenyra and Daemon were more of side characters and thus sidelined during these events...
But in the show, Rhaenyra seems to be the main character and as such the show has kept her and Daemon in a repititive loop doing nothing for about 5 episodes now...

So don't blame the audience when the interesting characters from season 1 have been doing fûck all for 5 episodes now and their scenes are boring af...

How many episodes do we really need of Daemon hallucinating in Harrenhal? We are tired already...he's my favorite character in the show but I'd rather he was sidelined for 2-3 episodes while the plot moves along elsewhere...

Game of Thrones had so many characters and factions, so even when one faction was "slow" or their story wasn't advancing, another faction's storyline would be advancing...

HOTD on the other hand has mainly 2 factions and when the story is barely moving, it is more noticeable.
Worse still when the "main characters" are doing nothing all season but stuck in the same repititive boring loop...(Rhaenyra and Daemon)

Even look at the last episode, the kiss came out from nowhere...
The whole riot by the smallfolk was just not convincing...

Omo, that thing dey always muzz me at times and wonder if they trolling or watched another thing.

Game of Thrones wey if no be the dragons people for don waka since. A fantasy show with little to no magic. A period of war with little battle scenes per season. An unending talk of Winter is Coming for 4 seasons before actually even seeing a glimpse of what the winter is all about.
Endless talk and dialogue for entire seasons till they give you a top tier final two episodes with a major event or battle to keep you hooked.

If not for dragons, e sure me die say GOT wouldn't be as popular despite being a masterpiece show.

This brings back the discussion about modern TV and 8 episode seasons...

I am an advocate for these shorter seasons solely because I believe that with shorter seasons there will be less filler and more focus on the central plot...

But Hollywood seems to be starting a trend whereby 6 out of the first 8 episodes are basically mostly filler...
And then it ends with an epic finale...

The Boys season 4 did the same thing where they just padded the season with unnecessary character arcs that led nowhere and unnecessary side quests...
Then had the last 2 episodes move the plot forward...

HOTD seems to be following the same trend. Apart from Episode 1 and 4, the season feels padded with filler events...

Honestly i totally agree with you and you are so on point, i have been observing this pattern especially with newer series and this is why i have been hyping so much praise in the new series 'About to die' they totally outdid themselves with each episode filled with plots to keep you glue to your seat.
You need to see the series and you will understand why i hype the series so much.

If we are to be very honest, this season 2 of house of the dragons isn't what we expected after the final episode of season 1 especially from Rhaenery and Damon.
What we expected from Damon and Rhaenery is not what we are seeing.
The things we had hoped for after episode 1 of this season 2 is not what we are seeing but as you said, hopefully the last two episode can bring back some spark to the show.

There is a certain kind of dullard that watches Game of Thrones just for dragons and epic war scenes. The very kind of clown that will never read the books or the lore, then come here to give their nollywood idea of how HOTD or GOT should be.
