hunger can unify the masses. Keep seeing one section of the country.
The frustration of Buhari will be visited upon Tinubu by buhari people. If it doesnt happen this August, which is time of highest food prices, then it will likely repeat itself next year.

Protest will always have an element of blodiness . But it must go ahead notwithstanding .

But nairaland is trying to spread fear . That's what they always do ,even during election here in Lagos and elsewhere

what is there to be learnt from sudan, libya, bangladesh and kenya?
That protests don't solve problems, instead, they disstabilize the country.

Protest, you die
You don't protest, you will still die

So keeeepqwwyitt
You don't have to die, nor do you need to kill others because you are dying if you are so intent on dying.

Was it NLC strike that accomplished minimum wage increase? Capital NO. It was a needless and mindless protest in the midst of ongoing negotiations. It was negotiation, consultations and joint agreement that achieved the increase, which by the way was already promised by the FG before NLC came up.
Lol, so the FG just decided to increase minimum wage out of dust?

Omoh, you people sef.

Bros, let's be realistic. What can 70k reallt do for a family of 1 or a single person? And we have a lot of graduates earning below 70k. What the government needs to do is find a way to reduce inflation by 50% then people will smile again. The cost of food stuffs is something else. 70k cannot buy a big of rice. In fact it cannot buy half bag or rice and half bag of beans
70k minimum wage is for a level 1 staff of the FG, which virtually doesn't exist. Most lowest level staff of the FG will be from maybe level 4 which should translate to about 110k basic salary apart from allowances. Graduates are not low level staff. i agree that the government should work on reducing inflation. However, that doesn't just work by a decree, it takes time in a democracy.

NLC and TLC went on a useless strike that achieved nothing, fact. The government had promised to increase salaries from the onset, they were the ones that brought up issue of living wage, they were the ones that added 30,000 to salaries on ther own will. i remember in December, they said that minimum wage will start in April. They have done exactly as planned.

https://punchng.com/new-wage-begins-april-fg-votes-n24tn-for-salaries/

All these things happened without protests, violence, looting and loss of lives. That is the point.
in your desperate, albeit, shameless quest to discredit all forms of protest whether they be legitimate, peaceful or not, you're breathlessly trying to discredit what the whole world witnessed when NLC shut down this country for 48 hrs in protest of FG's reluctance in implementing workers ' minimum wage.

Shame is the ability to judge yourself before others do. It's an indicator pointing the standard or lack thereof of one's self cleansing morality.
Bro, shame is conscience
And you don't have any.

What is dust? The FG removed fuel subsidy, floated the naira and promised to increase wages, provide "palliatives", CNG, grains for agriculture etc. Almost everything i mentioned have been done or are being done. It's all less than a year ago if you are current with what is happening around you and not just living in the echo chambers of the elction loser followers.

i did not deny NLC's strike, like you said we all saw it(they broke down the NA gate which was probably built back using Akpabio and Tinubu's salary grin grin grin). i said it was senseless and needless.

It seems this one doesn't know what is happening in Kenya and Bangledesh. Get data and find out. Is police and security agency brutality over in Nigeria? Or don't you understand the request/demands of the protest? Do you know what was lost yet?

That is because police infiltrated it in their attempt to look invincible.
We saw how drivers in suits drove thugs to protest locations and derailed the endsars protest in Abuja. Ipob or Obi or Obidients behind that also?

Nigeria population is on the high side, maybe this is one way to reduce it as we are adverse to birth control. So people have chosen to die, so shall it be.

It won't achieve its objectives if it's not violent. Violent is the only language oppressors understands. U can march for a million miles & go home afterwards & nothing will change. Take a good example of what happened in Kenya.
Politicians must be made to worry about their safety & that of their families, just as we the ordinary citizens worry everyday, for them to negotiate in good faith.

Kenyans paid the price ... May the souls of those who lost their lives during the protest in Kenya continue to rest in peace..

In this life,no pain, no gain..

The people of Nigeria want to protest with a view to express their displeasure over the lingering hardship by the party and not to burn down the country..

Please give them the protection they need
Every protest starts with such motive - when the ration of police to protesters become 1:10,000 what is the end result?

At the end of the day, the houses and properties of the politicians will not be affected, what will be ruined are the lives of the protesters, properties of good citizens, public properties etc.

You are free to protest, but go to your State, or go to Abuja, go and do as you like. The last protest destroyed properties in Lagos more than all the 36 States and FCT put together, yet Lagos is not the seat of power.
