Ordinarily I would say he does have a strong chance, if everyone is given a clean slate. But Angelo's potential inclusion is going to depend on what Maresca does with his midfield.

If he goes with Enzo/Lavia as 6 and KDH/Caicedo/Chuks as his 8s, then this means Palmer on the right, Madueke, and then Angelo in that order of seniority. Which means less minutes for Angelo.

But if Maresca employees a tactical variant of Palmer in midfield, then it's increased chances for Angelo.

I personally think given a clean slate, Angelo can challenge Madueke seriously for a spot.

well recent reports suggest Maresca is training Sterling and Madueke to keep the width on both ends and receive long balls.

I don't know if there will be a different tactical approach with Palmer on the right, but if Palmer gets to play midfield as he can't be benched, you seem to trust that Angelo would do a good job when fit especially incase of injury to Madueke which I pray doesn't happen.

I am fine with Angelo being the 3rd choice, but he may prove me wrong. And I also don't see Palmer starting in midfield seeing as we got KDH but I am starting to doubt our midfield depth for CMs with all this news of Santos, Gallagher, Casadei leaving.

Will Caicedo now play Left CM? When he is obviously better on the right side.

You are behind the curve sir.

Enzo playing in 6 is specifically for a deep-lying playmaker. There's a huge advantage with being able to control offensive midfield play from deep.

Your concern might that he's not astutely defensive, but this is the exact reason for Maresca's inverting full backs in a defensive posture.

This squad is actually tailor-made for what Maresca wants to do. Now whether it will materialise is a different topic.

which nonsense about bad treatment, seems you are forgetting they wanted to sell him last season but he got injured, you want them to take him on tour again and he gets injured?

Telling them to leave isn't bad treatment it's not a family kicking out their child for all this nonsense sentiments.

How can you be saying you want to stay and fight for your place when you don't even have a place to fight for, was Chalobah ever first XI, Gallagher I understand, but Chalobah when we have like 10defenders already.

If he's looking to play Palmer in midfield, then I am worried. It means we will have at least two top-tier midfielders not able to play. For instance, Palmer, KDH, Enzo means that Caicedo and Lavia on the bench.

I don't know how he wants to approach squad management. I am guessing he sees Palmer as under-utilised hugging the wings.

But I guess this means that Angelo has a better chance. After all, Maresca likes wingers inverted, and there's no other left-footed winger in the squad for now. It'll be a different case next season.

Meanwhile, I think Caceido can play RCM box to box.

I'd rather have Lavia as 6 than Enzo, Enzo likes roaming and has a good shot on him putting him as a DLP will limit his effectivenes also he's weak aerially which will be targeted by opposition teams, no inverted fb will save him from being overrun in midfield with these decencies. In EPL you need your mid fielders to be technical as well as athletic else you'll be roasted.

Morroco have been quite impressive. Sole really technically gifted players in here, and a tactically sound manager. Argentina not bad at all either but Morroco have been slightly better and deserve the lead.
