you sounded more stupid. So do you think he hasn't caution that student. Non of my lecturers then will permit that in his class. Even the course load would not give you time for such fashion.
A lecturer warns a College student of his hair style? How is that any different from Sharia North? undecided

Why will you cut someone's hair when you are not his parents, your duty is to teach not to tell a grown up man how to dress
Rubbish comment.

I pity your parents for wasting money on you.

The lecturer is just being nice, if it were some lecturers they would just ask for the student mat number and the student would continue falling his course till he starts dressing well according to his profession.

Education is not all about passing exams, character is among.

This might be a skit to gain attention. If not...

The more important is the issue of private vs public institutions.

If this was a private university the student would have to comply with a certain dress and appearance code. He wouldn't have dared violating it and the school would of course have the ultimate weapon of EXPULSION to force compliance.

I'm not sure the policy at Federal Universities. It's guaranteed to be controversial. Same situation with public vs private elementary and secondary schools in the USA.

Good Luck to Nigeria
That still did not give right to a lecturer to cut a student hair. There is a case like that going on in Texas, the student was sent home but the family sued the school. The case is still on.

This asshole lecturer should be using a clipper like Wahl, not a fucking scissors. Fucking idiot.

I tried to bring some important perspective. I didn't even approve or oppose the act of cutting the hair.

Again, I emphasize that OWNERSHIP of the institution in question is very important before making any judgement. Was the Texas case a public or private school issue?

In a private institution it's POSSIBLE the student or his parents might have signed a code of conduct giving the school power pursue such a course of action.

In a public university, well it's public business so anything goes, including lecturers trading sex for grades. I would still like to know if Federal Universities have a dress & appearance code.

Your problem is civilization. You need to travel outside this cage hole and actually see functional societies...

People have move beyond judging people by how they dress man. That lecturer might even have a worst hidden personality compared to the dude with dreads. We have seen such preying on their students. Is it even pastors.

Nigerians are still judging people on how they appear and not who they are. That's why a thief will come out and contest for elections in Nigeria and win.

This just sounds stupid.

There are better ways to go about things.
We can't keep doing things the archaic ways and expect modern results, doesn't work that way.
He has done more to discourage that dude from education which is the exact opposite of his job.

If he joins a cult now, people will call him names but have you considered the mental impact this has had on him? One of the major reasons cultism is still a huge thing in higher institutions is because of the high-handedness of lecturers. Students who can't face them will choose to pour that frustration on their fellow students.

Things can't keep happening this way.
We keep building monsters with our methods and wondering where things went wrong. It's not the devil, IT IS US! WE ARE THE DEVIL!
People like you are the ones that keep breeding monsters in the world. Too much freedom is what has spoiled our world today. The way we reason sometimes is worrisome.
When it comes to training especially for we blacks, sometimes you have to be strict. We like pointing to the white as a reference point and forget that those white first of all built their society from this strictness, before the later generations became better and better till they got to where they are today.

It was a public school.
And you called honour7 comment the best really?
Failing somebody deliberately because of hair cut? Which will even be against the school ethics.
Not letting the student know he or she was in the wrong.
And you called that the best comment really? That is one of the worst comments on this thread.

That looks like his normal natural hair

Why do some of you Africans hate yourselves so much. When you see white men with grown out hair you respect them because it’s their natural hair. But when your hair grows out, you feel MUST shave it off because it’s not normal. It’s unnatural. It’s dirty. Do you realize the implications? No wonder you worship light skin.

Shaving off of hair was a thing the slave masters did to strip us of our identity before selling us into slavery.
That some of you don’t even know this is concerning but what’s worse is that you hate people who choose to grow out their hair in its natural form that God created them. Embarrassing

There's an existing rules and regulations against indecent dressings and hair styles for staff and students at the school in question. The billboards specifying what not to wear, and offensive hairstyles, are mounted across the campuses . There's a committee on indecent dressings too. So say what you know or keep quiet. The guy is lucky to escape with just a haircut which would have earned him a suspension

Na gen z hairstyle, I don't see any thing wrong with it. The lecturer doesn't have the right to cut the young boy's hair.

The lecturer needs to be fired immediately.

Who is he to feel like god and be cutting a person's hair. This is not different from security forces acting like gods on the street.

if one investigates further, you will find out that the useless lecturer might be a cultist.

people just like to step on people's rights.

It's actually assault. Even if that hairstyle is against school rules, it's not the way to enforce it.
He should have reported it to school authorities.
