Heaven and Earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Mathew 24:35 |

Minime10:Heaven and Earth in this verse is not literal but illustrative. The heavens here referred to human world rulers while the earth are their rebellious subjects so God will replace both with a righteous heavenly government to be led by Christ Jesus and his 144,000 anointed brothers (New heavens) while billions of obedient mankind will replace rebellious human subjects! |

thesicilian:Jesus is talking about what he wants to do next note the chapter you quote: Matthew 16 Now this is what Matthew recorded next in chapter 17: Six days later Jesus took Peter and James and his brother John along and led them up into a lofty mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them; his face shone as the sun, and his outer garments became brilliant as the light. And look! there appeared to them Moses and E·liʹjah conversing with him. Then Peter said to Jesus: “Lord, it is fine for us to be here. If you wish, I will erect three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for E·liʹjah.” While he was still speaking, look! a bright cloud overshadowed them, and look! a voice out of the cloud said: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved. Listen to him.” At hearing this, the disciples fell facedown and became very much afraid. Then Jesus came near, and touching them, he said: “Get up. Have no fear.” When they looked up, they saw no one but Jesus himself. As they were descending from the mountain, Jesus commanded them: “Tell the vision to no one until the Son of man is raised up from the dead.” However, the disciples put the question to him: “Why, then, do the scribes say that E·liʹjah must come first?” In reply he said: “E·liʹjah is indeed coming and will restore all things. However, I say to you that E·liʹjah has already come, and they did not recognize him but did whatever they wanted with him. In this way also, the Son of man is going to suffer at their hands.” Then the disciples perceived that he spoke to them about John the Baptist. Matthew 17:1-13The three men saw Jesus coming in his glory as he was talking to Moses and Elijah as if these two men has been raised from the dead and God confirmed that they are working with the Christ. So they wondered why he is the person they saw first before seeing Elijah since the scriptures said Elijah will come before the Christ. May you have PEACE! |

MaxInDHouse:I understand the scripture you shared, but I don't understand how it answers my question with respect to the topic of the thread. So maybe you can fine-tune it some more. My request was that since it is an established fact that God does not lie, how the do we explain the passage I shared since every person who listened to it has literally died thousands of years ago? With respect to your explanation, are you saying that because Jesus didn't die, He was referring to Himself alone? Or are you saying there were others in the congregation who actually didn't die? Because even John the Baptist was killed (though I don't think he was even in the congregation in the first place). Or you're saying He wasn't really talking about His much awaited 2nd coming but just the side show he was planning for just 3 of his disciples practically the next day |

Minime10:God of Israel, and Jesus Christ who was by His Father , God of Israel, only to the Lost sheep of Israel, never lied or changed their minds as God's Laws remain intact and as was given back before Jesus, Christ ascended nto Heaven. ![]() |

thesicilian:This is the answer to your question. Some standing that very day who will not die until they see Jesus being the one who will raise all the dead are those three he took to the mountain. Please it wasn't the next day but six days later! Matthew 17:1 God bless you and may you have PEACE! |

MaxInDHouse:Ok, I get you now. Thanks. By the way when I said 'practically the next day' I meant a short while later, not the very next day. |

thesicilian:You're welcome Sir! There are lots of verses in the Bible that most religionists got wrong but when we come to tell them the practical application of what was written in God's word they will drive us away. For instance when Jesus said: “Keep on asking, and it will be given you; keep on seeking, and you will find; keep on knocking, and it will be opened to you; for everyone asking receives, and everyone seeking finds, and to everyone knocking, it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 Most religionists thought he was talking about whatever they wish like material possessions or bearing children but neither Jesus nor his disciples prayed for riches or child rather what Jesus meant there is asking for God's Holy Spirit {Luke 11:3} because that's what we need to accomplish our ministry something no one else could have except true worshipers of God! So there are lots and lots of misconceptions regarding what Jesus taught in the Bible! |
