This government is anti-democratic, dictatorial, selfish, corrupt and insensitive to the plight of the masses. Peaceful protest is a fundamental constitutional right of every citizen of this country and Tinubu enjoyed protesting against the Jonathan’s government without any infringement on his rights. It is callous of this government after failing to address the terrible situation Nigerians are going through, it still want to deny Nigerians their rights to protest?

The 14 point agenda for the August nationwide protest revolves around addressing the fundamental problems of our country and many of the points made were spot on. With the desperation of this government to intimidate and silence Nigerians, it is obvious that the demands of this protest will not be entertained not to talk of it been implemented by this hopelessly corrupt insensitive Tinubu’s government. This is why on an earlier post I made a case for the dissolution of this government and an establishment of an interim government that will be saddled with the responsibility of implementing the demands of protesting Nigerians. For Nigerians to achieve genuine progress from this nationwide protest, here is a list of realistic 3 point workable agenda that Nigerians should demand for during the protest based on order of implementation….

AGENDA 1: Remove Tinubu as president either through willful resignation or forced impeachment, followed by a total dissolution of the current government

AGENDA 2: Establish a caretaker interim government setup with a mandate of 2 years to implement the points listed below.

- Stabilize the economy by implementing immediate reversal of fuel subsidy removal and floating of the Naira policies. It will establish a corrupt free fuel subsidy scheme, reverse sale of NNPC, sack current NNPC management and revive one national refinery (Port Harcourt refinery) within 5 months period.

- Establish a new remuneration scheme that will ensure that Nigerian workers are paid a minimum wage that reflects economic realities to boost Nigerians purchasing power and revitalize the economy….

- Constitute a national reformation agenda that will entail representation from each geo political zone with a mandate to overhaul the 1999 constitution or replace it with a people-backed constitution through a sovereign national conference followed by a national referendum. The provisions of this new constitution should scrap the senate arm of the Nigerian legislative system and make legislative job a part-time endeavor

- As a matter of urgency, draft and implement provisions for the restructuring of Nigeria political landscape towards decentralization to uphold Nigeria’s diversity, foster peace through resource control, decentralization of constitutional powers and regional development.

- Implement the unconditional release Nnamdi Kanu, all Endsars and human rights activists political detainees

- Reform the nation’s security agencies by sacking all current military and security officials benefiting from widespread insecurity and terrorism across Nigeria

- Reform the nation’s anti-graft agencies (EFCC, ICPC…) by sacking all current heads of the anti-graft agencies and empower the anti-graft agencies to investigate and prosecute corrupt judges that have denied and continue to deny Nigerians access to justice

- Setup judicial panel to probe and prosecute all past and present Nigerian leaders over looting that they supervised while in power, recover their loots and deposit it in special account to be used to fund education, healthcare and infrastructure

- Reform the nation’s electoral body INEC by sacking and prosecuting the current INEC chairman, reconstitute the Nigerian electoral body INEC to remove corrupt individuals and partisan backed operatives appointed to manipulate elections. Establish diaspora voting rights for Nigerians outside the country

AGENDA 3: Once the electoral reforms and all other reforms listed above are done by the interim government within 2 years, a free and fair election should be conducted to usher in a new Nigeria founded on justice, equity and fairness….

This is what I believe Nigerians should protest and agitate for…. This is what must be done now to salvage the country and put it on the path of greatness….

-Ask for something that will change nigeria for better and for a long time

If go their and start to say hunger, or wage increase you’re finished

Present them a copy of the type of constitution you want and stay on the street until they implement and pass it to law. Then continue to follow up to see that endorsement is properly done.

So now they want to protest again? As if the last one didn’t teach us anything! Demanding for what exactly? More hardship? Or maybe a new way to ignore the real issues at hand? These protests have become a mere distraction from the failures of leadership.
Re: August Nationwide Protest: Here Is What Nigerians Should Demand by Bebigiby1(op): 7:11pm On Jul 29, 2024
This is not a laughing matter as the only power many Nigerians have now is their number and the ability to protest against what is happening…. You can laugh maybe because you’re not in the country or you’re part of those in government enjoying the nation’s wealth…. Many Nigerians are living below the poverty line and there seem to be no hope with the way things are going….. What do you and others posting negative comments on this thread gain by tribalizing issues on Nairaland and then go offline to buy fuel at almost N1000 per liter and a bag of rice edging towards N100,000…..

What you posted still doesn’t answer the question I asked, what do you gain by pushing propaganda here and then going offline to face terrible economic consequences of this bad government….? For your information I am not an IPOB member neither am I an Obi supporter…. You can read my submission before 2023 election here https://www.nairaland.com/7578573/take-tinubu-atiku-obi-sowore

What a joke. Another protest with no clear agenda, just noise in the streets. As if shouting louder will fix the mess. How about we demand some accountability instead?

How do you demand accountability from a corrupt government that thrives on propaganda and lies, how do you demand accountability from a government that doesn’t respect the fundamental rights of Nigerians, a government that is bent on intimidating the people and is unapologetic about its draconian economic policies….

With the unabated astronomical rise in the cost of living, Nigerians are already living as if under economic sanctions by their own government…. Tinubu’s political ambition is not bigger than or above the lives of over 200 million people…. If ending Tinubu’s government will bring about genuine progress and succor to Nigerians then so be it….

They should demand to stay at home and mind their business instead of creating chaos. Protests never bring solutions, just more problems and distractions from real issues.

Tinubu and his APC political allies have succeeded in brainwashing and dehumanizing many Nigerians, it was shameful watching people troop out today to protest against the August nationwide peaceful protest…. Sometimes I feel as if it’s too late to salvage this country as Nigerians appear to be architects of their own problems…. Based on how desperate the government has shown to be against the protest it is obvious that some Nigerians will be recruited to sabotage the peaceful protest and turn in to a violent protest…. Nigerians are their own problem…. It’s sad….

Yes o, we will make Peter Obi the chairman of the interim government and Aisha Yesufu the vice chairman. Kenneth Okonkwo will be the SGF and Anambra 1st son will be the COS to the chairman.

First assignment, sack all Yoruba is public service and replace them with Igbos. Thereafter, remove Sanwoolu as governor of Lagos state and appoint Chinedu as interim governor. Remove Oba of Lagos and replace him with Eze Ndigbo.

What a brilliant idea. Once we do all these, rice will become N5k per bag. PMS will fall straight to N50 per litter and exchange rate will be N1:$1. In fact, Nigeria will turn to Dubai in 2 years. Abi I lie?
