See typical African man abi na woman sef. As long as you are a citizen of any country and you are born and raised there you should be eligible to be voted for. Pussyass go to other foreign lands and see how your brothers are becoming mayors, etc , because of too much egusi soup and garri una feel say even if nuhu is born and brought up in the east he can't and shouldn't be a councilor or hold any position chaiii.
You're ranting now. grin

In South Africa and Ghana, it seems they claim mother land but not father's land. If she wants to represent SA, why displaying Nigeria culture there, she's confused.
Saka and Anthony Joshua that display Nigerian culture and publicly associate with Nigeria should now do what? Make una, fellow Nigerians, no dey downgrade Naija

The peagent is about the celebration of heritage not sports. How can someone who openly celebrates a foreign heritage represent heritage of people who don't recognise her as their own ?

South Africa is a rich country with a large poor black population. After the ANC came to power in 1994, more black people came to South Africa. Most of them were not skilled, and pretty soon were competing with poor south africans in the unskilled and SME Level.

Result, many black SA Lost out. ANC too has not done enough to help matters which is why this last election, voters showed them shege. They won, but not enough and had to go and beg to form a coalition with other parties.

RIghtly or wrongly, many black South Africans view African migrants as taking away opporutnites from them

The Nigeria-born Miss SA candidate filters into that narrative. It does not matter that she was born in SA , and has citizenship, all that matters is she is a foreigner taking away the space a humble Zulu, Xhosa, Thembu, or even Coloured, Afrikaans, or Indian gal should get.

The surprising thing is Malema speaking up in support of her, especially when most of his supporters are poor black South Africans who buy the above narrative.
Nigeria-born?!?! Is she Nigeria-born? Clearly states she’s South African born of Nigerian ancestry

SA SHOULD STOP EMBARASSING THE POOR GIRL.

SHE HAS OBSERVED DUE PROCESS AND NOW A FINALIST.

ALL THIS NOISE IS NOT HELPING ANYBODY, U HAVE CHINESE, INDIANS AND EUROPEANS THERE.

Which I stated in my post. I even came across a post that even stated her mother is from south Africa self.

But in the eyes of many xenophobes she is a foreigner.

Xenophobia is kind of irrational. That's why I never try to argue with such people.

I agree

If reversed is the case Nigerians will not agree too

Nigerian shouldn't dish what they can't take

Ghana must go comes to mind
If Ghana must go is your basis, then you have no knowledge of history. Go and read about Nigeria must go that Ghana did during the civil war. Then you will understand Nigeria’s retaliation.

And talking about “Nigeria won’t take it”, you know Chagoury? The Lebanese family and associate of BAT? They are all Nigerians without a single Nigerian parent. We dey take an steady

All I see here is perceived hatred and unjustified phobia towards Nigeria!

Since she’s a South African born, why is she not eligible to contest?
African will never disappoint
The same way an Igbo born in Ogun never be governor of that state grin

And how does someone represent a bloodline she doesn't have in her ? She has no SA heritage ( Moz and Nigerian) parents. How is she relevant to our culture and heritage?

I WOULDN'T CALL THEM XENOPHOBIC, THEIR CONCERNS ARE ALSO REASONABLE BUT INVALID BECAUSE, THEY HAVE PEOPLE FROM INDIA, EUROPEAN, CHINESE THAT ARE SA, SO IF THOSE CAN BE SA, LOGIC APPLIES THAT THE POOR GIRL IS EVEN MORE SA THAN THE LATER.

DO U UNDERSTAND AND THAT WAS WHY SHE WAS ADMITED.

THEIR IS A BROAD CATEGORY OF SA AND NOT LIMITED TO INDIGENIOUS NATIVE.

At the end of the day, immigration does have some issues that are valid and have nothing to do with racisim and xenophobia at face value

Plus, I have no opinion for or against her admission. If I was forced, I would even agree with Malema that the governing body of Miss SA has found her worthy, and so....

(Plus we once had a MBGN whose dad was Hungarian. Some complaining resulted, but at the end, she competed and that was that).

None of my business really. There’s somewhere in Nigeria were a Syrian-Nigerian ran for public office. Didn’t win but put up a very stiff fight.

Loads of Carribean folks married to Nigerians have run and won elections in Nigeria.

SHE DOESNT NEED A SA MOTHER TO BE SA.

THE DEFINITION OF NATIONALITY CAN BE BOTH BROAD AND NARROW.

SHE FALLS INTO THE BROAD CATEGORY.

THE CONTEST IS NOT LIMITED TO THE INDIGENIOUS NATIVES OF THE LAND OR MZANSI, WHICH WOULD MAKE IT NARROW.

Well, at the end, I have no dog in the fight, and I am not arguing for or against her inclusion in the beauty pageant (and if you ask me, the concept of beauty pageant is useless...I would prefer women get more scholarships for STEM courses in any country, especially my own country self).

Just analysing the situation

Funnily enough, Japan had the same problem in 2019 and 2020, when two half black Japanese girls won Miss Japan. Apparently they were not Japanese enough despite having been born and bred in Japan and speaking Japanese fluently

And then there is Kotaro Matsushima, born in South Africa, represents Japan at the rugby. Some Japanese may have a similar reaction like you have to the half Nigerian, half Mozambican girl.

In the end, I am just analysing stuff, and in a way, I kind of understand both sides of the argument very well. But my opinion does not count...the pageant organizers are the ones whose opinions count. Direct your argument to them....

WHEN TYLA WON THE BET AWARD AHEAD OF AMERICAN ARTIST, THEY MIGHT AS WELL HAD DISCRIMINATED AGAINST HER BECAUSE SHE IS AN INTERNATIONAL ARTIST AND DEPRIVED HER OF THE AWARD.

THEY DONT GIVE THAT AWARD TO INTERNATIONAL ARTIST, IT IS MEANT FOR HOME ARTIST(AMERICAN) BUT THEY GAVE IT TO HER.

Then you shouldn't have reduced this to just " xenophobic sentiments " . Had you been objective from the post I quoted,I wouldn't have bothered . Andi don't care about such shows either and this goes for most SA ( the show had lost viewers over the years) and I guess that's why they " wanted controversy"to bring the show to the attention of many people and it worked.

Well, xenophobia is a function of bad governance, in this case from both other African countries, and from South Africa (bantu education causing issues)....and yes, humans are xenophobic.

(My country has a great record in xenophobia...back in the 1980's we chased out a lot of other west africans because.....and also it was stimulated by bad economic practice causing a crisis that led to the then govenrment looking for scapegoats...).

MY analysis is not to cast aspersions or to say your country is the SOURCE OF ALL EVIL...it is to point out issues, and hopefully generate solutions.

Sorry if I was not too clear enough.
