that is not true, many wives translates to many children that if properly harnessed will be a huge capital,India has five times or more the population of Nigeria but they are not as hungry and poor as we are, nigerias problem is the leaders, majority the political class that makes important critical decisions, there is no better way to describe the situation more clearly than how my dear brother Mr Peter obi illustrated, that we ordinary Nigerians are in a bus going to calabar from Abuja but the driver the politician is driving to Sudan,it is not just simple failure but a systemic and catastrophic failure

Both of them are talking nonsense. The biggest issue with Nigeria is the structure. It allows for thieves to thrive and wreck even the best laid out plans.
From NNPC to the CBN, to the ministries, everywhere you go you see mini tyrants who are law unto themselves.
There are over a billion people in China and they are not starving, population is not the problem, at least not yet.
what did bulaba bandits say when GEJ advocated separating the goats from the yams which is exactly what you're now saying ? Bulaba bandits left the message and started aggressively attacking the messenger without critically analyzing what he said. Bulaba bandits though a massive force to contend with, have proven time without number to be one of the biggest impediments to Nigeria's progress

Well, the goats included people like Alison Madueke, what did he do? He made them the custodians of the yams.

I've always advocated for her extradition and trial in open court. What did your boy Magu do when she volunteered herself for trial here in Nigeria ? It had something to do with a funny letter

Population was a problem, so China introduced a one-child policy.

Nigeria has poor political leaders, but you can't develop a nation with more than 30 million children out of school. The poorest countries in the world are countries with low literacy rates like Northern Nigeria.

China today is 1.45 billion. The 450 million on top of the 1 billion is almost twice the population of Nigeria. Yet, they are not starving, let that sink for a moment.

Problem with Nigeria is we got independent on the mindset that the whites were making a lot of money from us, and that if we got independent, we would get our hands on the money and equitably share it.

The above is a nice ideal, but not the way strong countries are built. It is why we are today a underdeveloped and heavily indebted country, and why we have such lacklustre leadership. Like the current one, before anyone starts.

The main issue is we have too much resources, that we have the wrong idea that we need to sell them. We don't want to use them to make stuff the world needs. The day we use those resources to do so, it would take a while , but we would reach first world status.
Black Africans are not capable of managing modern society.

The problem in Nigeria is not different from other African nations; even South Africa, led by Black Africans, is heading toward another failed Black-led government.

African culture has not evolved to develop in modern society; the average African still has the mindset of people living in 1600, when feudal chiefs and kings were paramount, large, unproductive families for farming were the norm, and tribal warfare was a daily occurrence.

A black African has not won a nobel prize in science, economics or medicine because we don't innovate or invent shit.

The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido, has decried the high level of poverty in the Northern region of the country, stressing that such status is a cause for concern for its leaders.

Sanusi who spoke at an event marking the 60th birthday of the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, said the north leads other regions with 87 per cent of people living in poverty.

According to him, the issues of political thuggery during elections, the Almajiri children among others also disturb leaders.

Ninety per cent of Chinese are Han Chinese, with one culture and 2000 years of civilisation. Nigeria is barely 100 years old, with disparate cultures that hate each other. There is not a single region that is developing at all.

Chinese has a culture that enhances knowledge and development across Nigeria if it is not terrorism, ritual killing, prostitution or drug dealing. Nigeria were selling their people to the Whites until the Whites ended it.

Mr dele momodu, cal a spade a spade. Given birth to numerous and accountable children have been a major cause of economic, social and security challenges we re currently facing in the country. Don't try to bury the truth in that fact. Simply amplify if you have other causes rather than challenge. Well said Mr fayose.

There are a lot of non-African countries that are basket cases, even India , which can send men to space, yet has a ton of very poor people living like their ancestors lived hundreds of years ago.

The strong countries use their resources to make things the world needs. The poor countries do not.

A harsh thing about most African countries is we got too many resources. That would be a blessing, but the thing is, it takes time to go from zero to industrial developed nation. And it involves a lot of hardship and brutal suffering. And most of our independence leaders and fighters for independence are politicans.

They were politicans

And politicans cannot tell people the truth because sometimes the truth is painful. Like now, imagine an Awo or a Bello or a Zik telling their people that ' now we are independent, we have to undergo a five year development plan to become an industrial superpower. It means we have to suffer for now, but hey, in 40years time, we would be a super power.'

Yeah, I would be asking for the Brits to come back.

Has nothing to do with how bad Africans are or the whites. Has everything to do with being resource dependent. White and some asian nations are developed because their resources were not enough to sustain a large population. SO, it was innovate or die.

Yes...check out the scandinavian nations...too hot in the summer, to chillingly cold in the winter....not enough resources...so what do you do...sell more oil, or invest in science and tech and survive?

Or china, millions upon millions of people, and selling resoruces cannot yield enough to feed them. Yeah, either become a debt ridden IMF slave...or scinece and tech and industries, and a harsh meritocracy.

this is what Momodu is asking. can you pls answer the question he asked?

who is more destructive to the nation, the poor man with plenty wives and children or the politician with one wife and many high maintenance girlfriends, who waste public resources on extravagant lifestyles including private jets? Who is more productive, the politician who steals the sweats and resources of the citizens or the poor man who sends his many poor wives and children to the farmlands to grow crops for everyone of us?
The answer is obvious the poor man that can not control his wants within his scarce resources. Nigeria today is suffering from consequences of over population due to uncontrolled births!
The poor man will always blame the government or nation for his woes!

There is no way Nigeria will operate with the 1999 constitution and succeed. Mark my words. It doesn't matter who is the president. The foundation/structure of Nigeria is faulty. So is everything about Nigeria.

Who said anything about the poor man blaming anybody?

That is why I said you should read what dele Momodu said.

Dele Momodu said "Who is more productive, the politician who steals the sweats and resources of the citizens or the poor man who sends his many poor wives and children to the farmlands to grow crops for everyone of us?"

The key there is "productive". I don't see were you addressed the issue of productivity in the question.

So how is d poor man who who sends his many poor wives and children to the farmlands to grow crops for everyone of us not more productive than the politician?

How is the politician who steals the sweats and resources of the citizens to maintain several girlfriends more productive than the poor man?

How is Nigeria suffering from the consequences of over population?

What is overpopulation?

If you say the north is unproductive, where does virtually all the food we consume in Nigeria come from?

From your highlighted comment, you are saying the south is productive.

How is the south productive?
