Who said anything about the poor man blaming anybody?

That is why I said you should read what dele Momodu said.

Dele Momodu said "Who is more productive, the politician who steals the sweats and resources of the citizens or the poor man who sends his many poor wives and children to the farmlands to grow crops for everyone of us?"

The key there is "productive". I don't see were you addressed the issue of productivity in the question.

So how is d poor man who who sends his many poor wives and children to the farmlands to grow crops for everyone of us not more productive than the politician?

How is the politician who steals the sweats and resources of the citizens to maintain several girlfriends more productive than the poor man?

How is Nigeria suffering from the consequences of over population?

What is overpopulation?
I watched the interview and there's no where Ayo Fayose talked about a poor man being productive or not but that such guy with 4wives and 14children living on minimum salary of N34,000 as what in government house!
My brother, politicians knows how to twist events to suit their purposes.
If the guy has farmland with 4wives and 14children, of course that's a productive one but are you sure People like Fayose are also not contributing to Nigeria productive economy?
The use of girlfriends is a distraction, does he keeps them for long? Also, let's assume those girls too are being rewarded and whom in turn use the money for productive ventures!
Someone with resources..like Fayose.
sic.. is likely to be more productive in agriculture than a poor man with ostensibly self inflicted bad lifestyle!

If you say the north is unproductive, where does virtually all the food we consume in Nigeria come from?

From your highlighted comment, you are saying the south is productive.

How is the south productive?
What food? The North is starving, and Nigeria is importing for food.

There are a lot of non-African countries that are basket cases, even India , which can send men to space, yet has a ton of very poor people living like their ancestors lived hundreds of years ago.

The strong countries use their resources to make things the world needs. The poor countries do not.

A harsh thing about most African countries is we got too many resources. That would be a blessing, but the thing is, it takes time to go from zero to industrial developed nation. And it involves a lot of hardship and brutal suffering. And most of our independence leaders and fighters for independence are politicans.

They were politicans

And politicans cannot tell people the truth because sometimes the truth is painful. Like now, imagine an Awo or a Bello or a Zik telling their people that ' now we are independent, we have to undergo a five year development plan to become an industrial superpower. It means we have to suffer for now, but hey, in 40years time, we would be a super power.'

Yeah, I would be asking for the Brits to come back.

Has nothing to do with how bad Africans are or the whites. Has everything to do with being resource dependent. White and some asian nations are developed because their resources were not enough to sustain a large population. SO, it was innovate or die.

Yes...check out the scandinavian nations...too hot in the summer, to chillingly cold in the winter....not enough resources...so what do you do...sell more oil, or invest in science and tech and survive?

Or china, millions upon millions of people, and selling resoruces cannot yield enough to feed them. Yeah, either become a debt ridden IMF slave...or scinece and tech and industries, and a harsh meritocracy.
What resource has Africa got. Chile has more copper than Congo and Zambia.

Australia, Canada, Norway and Chile are all resource-rich and industrial nations. Africans place too much emphasis on raw materials because they lack the culture to develop management skills to manage human capital.

That is why Fayose is correct to question the family structure of Northern Nigerians; why will any rational human being have 18 children from 4 wives on a salary of N34,000 in any society where this is practised? This will lead to the development of a poor underclass that cannot develop.

There is not enough farmland in Nigeria for poor people with 4 wives and 14 children to survive. Nigeria cannot depend on small scall farmer to meet the need of 220 million people and counting.

That's not correct. Don't use the conditions in Lagos or Abuja to reach that conclusion.

Nigeria has enough land for agricultural purposes.

Nigeria cannot afford to rely on small-scale farmers using hoes and their children. We live in an era where mechanised farming, the use of technology, and supply chains are required to meet the country's growing population.

Nigeria is 22 times larger than Neatherland, yet Neatherland exports $100 billion of food products.

Now I agree with you. The problem isn't unavailability of land but the factors you mentioned and the USELESS govt we have in the country.

Just imagine a country that import top soil for agricultural purposes exporting agricultural products to Nigeria

Momodu To Ayo Fayose: Let Us Accept We Have Failed This Country. May God forgive our transgressions.
Dele Momodu should first ask for forgiveness for the image laundering he carried out shamelessly for all of the ruiners of Nigeria including the Abacha family by eulogizing them on the pages of his Ovation magazine.

I remember vividly my calling into a TV program on Ben TV London in 2004 when Dele Momodu was a guest on the station and I asked him why he was busy promoting all the corrupt leaders of Nigeria on the pages of his magazine and he replied me by asking me if I expected him to go into the houses of these people to fight with them. On hearing this, I promptly cut off the call.
