The collaboration between Sunny Ade and Onyeka Onwenu featuring songs like Choice, Wait for Me, etc, was a US Planned Parenthood sponsored album to raise awareness about family planning, child spacing and STDs, especially at a time HIV was rearing its ugly head in Africa. It was not for commercial purposes. Were you even born at the time? NO

Secondly: Onyeka Onwenu was principally a trained journalist and her foray into music was a chance occurrence. At the time she launched her 1981 album which received a lot of airplay on NTA (and yes, I was alive then), Sunny Ade was already a known international star, along with Ebenezer Obey, and others. Jide Obi, Oby Onuoha, Felix Lebarty, Afy Usua, Eddy Okonta, Bala Miller, Zeal Onyia, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, Kollington Ayinla, Orlando Owoh, Gerry Japhet, Jake Solo, Stephen Osita Osadebey, Sunny Okosuns, Fela, Kris Okotie, Cardinal Rex Jim Lawson, Celestine Ukwu, Fatai Rolling Dollar, Bobby Benson, etc, etc were all making waves. The Grammys were not a thing in those days and were not a benchmark for music popularity.

The Grammys only started to gain attention when Michael Jackson won 9 awards in the 1984 edition with his Thriller album. I am sure you don't even know this because your parents had not even considered producing you.
