Aribemchukwu, the daughter of Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, has been killed.

The deceased, popularly called Chuchu, was reportedly killed in her Parkview Estate residence in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State on Wednesday morning.

A family source who craved anonymity because of the current state of the family said she was killed last night, and her body was discovered this morning outside the gate of her residence.

“It would appear that new household staff might have been responsible and tried to stage as if she was outside when it happened.

“There are signs of an attempt to clean up blood inside the house and in the compound. This was indeed the handiwork, and we observe that they were newly employed less than a month, and she was alone in the house with them.

“We all need to be super careful. Especially with new hire,” he added.

Confirming the murder to PUNCH Online in a telephone conversation on Wednesday, the state command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the body has been recovered, and three suspects have been arrested in connection to her death.

Hundeyin stressed that the three people arrested in connection to the murder of Aribemchukwu were her domestic staff.

“Our men have arrested three people in connection to the murder of the daughter of Justice Ajumogobia at her residence in Parkview Estate. One of them is a driver, and the other two are maids.

“We are investigating and will further inform the public on our outcome,” he said.

Until her death, the late Aribemchukwu was a doctor and had recently married.

Could be anything from feeling maltreated by her or simply saw they could steal from her and covered up with the murder.I'm sure they tried to bolt but were rounded up.

...but how do you live alone with grown up men who are strangers.That's a security risk.

This is terrible! Living alone with domestic aides is quite tricky now. Most of these new age ones only plan to steal. Any obstruction leads to death.

Domestic staffs would kill her and still be within the neighbourhood where they would be easily picked?
The history of domestic staff killing their bosses is that they usually abscond to their hometowns or at least to a location outside the state where they feel they won't be apprehended because they usually know they would be the prime suspects.
What of the husband?Does he live with her and if so,was he present the days immediately preceding her death?Was there any domestic dispute she had with anyone?These are the relevant questions the investigators should find an answer to.
Going through her phone too will reveal a lot.
Of course,no one would dare mention taking of fingerprints,that would easily have resolved this murder, because even in 2024 police investigations in Nigeria,taking of fingerprints from a crime scene for analysis and cross-matching,is still as alien,as a Nigerian astronaut going to the moon.

Don't let anybody deceive you, there is nothing as valuable as having your own family (wife/husband and kids). If she was living with them, this wouldn't have befell her.

As a lady, no matter the success, you need a man. It is better to be once married with kids and divorced than to die single and never married with kids.

Just imagine! This is a well planned operation and the young lady is the casualty because of the greed of those who might have perceived her opulence from her lifestyle.
