Violent Protesters Set Ablaze Secretariat, Two Vehicles In Niger by adamusuleiman3(op): 5:52am On Aug 02, 2024
The Police Command in Niger has nabbed eleven violent protesters for allegedly attempting to set ablaze Tafa Local Government Secretariat during the nationwide protests.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed in Minna on Thursday that the hoodlums partially burnt part of the secretariat and looted valuable items.

He explained that at about 9:30 am, some miscreants from the Tafa area of Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State and Hayin-Diko of Gurara Council Area of Niger stormed the secretariat located in Sabon-Wuse along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.

Abiodun said the hoodlums vandalised and partially set ablaze the secretariat, burnt two vehicles as well as vandalised two others.

He said the hoodlums went further to loot valuables inside offices in the secretariat, adding that in the process, police and other security agencies responded to the scene.

Abiodun said that eleven miscreants were nabbed with different dangerous weapons, including firearms while others were dispersed from the scene and some of the looted items were recovered.

He added that the police and other security agencies responded to the blockage of the Kaduna-Abuja expressway and the old toll gate to disperse the hoodlums who blocked it.

Abiodun said the expressway has been reopened for free flow of traffic, adding that an investigation into the violent act has commenced to nab the other fleeing miscreants.

He warned the public, parents and residents to caution their wards against engaging in violent protests and destruction of public assets as such actions would not be tolerated.

Abidoun warned, “Anyone caught engaging in violent demonstrations and any act of lawlessness would be dealt with decisively under the law.”

Nigerians really need to rethink their approach to protest. Setting fire to public property only shows how lost we are in our demands.

Instead of addressing issues, we are busy creating more chaos. This isn’t the way to make a change; it’s just pure madness!

While I want them to face the full wrath of the law, I also want the Yeye Bello of Kogi and Emefiele to also face the same faith because I don't want double standard
Re: Violent Protesters Set Ablaze Secretariat, Two Vehicles In Niger by Promismike(m):
Peaceful protest is what we speak for.

Infact the protest should continue until petroleum price and foodstuffs prices are reduced to a considerable amount.

APC government is so callous and inhuman that without much persuations and some radical protests these devils won't bulge to do anything that will reduce the hardship in the country.

And mind you this is a protest that should have been started during Buhari regime. But tribalism and kinsman sentiment never allowed northeners come to their senses. If these step is take during Buhari government, Nigeria wouldn't have slided to this level of regression.

Since the hunger has made amost everyone come to his or her senses keeping tribalism apart. It's time to push till things are redressed to a considerate state.

Govt is praying that it turns violent already. That’s where they’d come in with violence to stop the protest

All these could have been avoided if we had visionary and proactive leadership.

Ordinary to address the people is so hard for this president. Everyone saw this coming from afar yet they let it come and will later start trying to solve it.

Useless and senseless leadership

These violent protesters have crossed the line! Setting ablaze public property only shows their lack of respect for the law and order. It's time for the authorities to take decisive action against these miscreants.

A hungry man is an angry man.

Muslim Muslim ticket has frustrated Nigerians.

Without the Christian to provide spiritual covering from God, we are left with allah.

And this is what we get😓
Re: Violent Protesters Set Ablaze Secretariat, Two Vehicles In Niger by khalling2008: 6:27am On Aug 02, 2024
My problem Is not about the protest but what they are fighting for, are they going to achieve it with the way things are going now.
Now, they have declared a 24-hour curfew in Kano state, and nobody will be able to go out.
Are they achieving their demand or we will continue with the noise of hunger in the land.
Re: Violent Protesters Set Ablaze Secretariat, Two Vehicles In Niger by ibrosantus(m): 6:29am On Aug 02, 2024
What the northerners are fighting for is beyond hunger alone. They are fighting insecurities among other things.

At this stage, I think they are tired of banditry, bokoharam, emir tussle and their government way doing things with I don't care attitude.

But, I will advice them to take things easy. May Almighty Allah (God) ease our affairs all over Nigeria.

Like how will destroying properties bring solution to the problems.. Dialogue remains the best solution not protest.
Mr.President should address the nation and fix a town hall meeting where representatives from different groups will be present, and grievances stated the way they are, and government on its part should say what it can do.
Dialogue!Dialogue!

Seriously serious, if there would be anything to set ablazed, it's not government properties but those stupid senators properties. They are there to embezzled Nigerians money. After this protest, the next protest should be base on 90% reduction on government worker salaries, president, senator, representative, ministers, advisers, judiciary and more plus governor and increase in the salaries of civilians
