18 Suspects Arrested For Vandalism In Yobe During Hunger Protest by nlfpmod(mod): 4:10pm On Aug 02, 2024
The Police Command in Yobe has announced the arrest of 18 suspects in connection with Thursday’s violent protest and vandalism in Nguru, Potiskum, and Gashua towns.

The command’s spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, revealed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Damaturu.

He stated that the suspects, masquerading as peaceful protesters, had set fire to public buildings and stolen food items and empowerment equipment.

According to him, the suspects will be charged in court once the investigation is complete.

Abdulkarim noted that the state Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, had cautioned against the destruction of government assets in any part of the state.

Abdulkarim noted that the state Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, had cautioned against the destruction of government assets in any part of the state.

The spokesman reiterated the command’s readiness to enforce the dusk-to-dawn curfew, which was earlier imposed on the affected towns to maintain law and order.

“While recognising the right to peaceful assembly, the command stresses that this right is not absolute and must not infringe on the rights of others. Any criminal acts will be met with firm resistance.

“The command reiterates its commitment to upholding law and order and warns against violent protests that could lead to social and economic chaos,” he said.

The spokesman urged communities in the state to collaborate with the police to prevent further mayhem caused by miscreants.

Good.

Southwest have learnt from 2020

When Nnamdi Kanu was broadcasting for his ipob terrorist to burn down Lagos

We said it, no protest is peaceful.

There are different hidden agendas in protests. Some people want the protest to hold so the country can burn and disintegrate (Nothing concern them about good governance or bad governance, it is just an opportunity for them to see their evil and destructive agenda materialize)

You should know the people im talking about, they have been jumping everywhere like gorillas on heat celebrating every arson, vandalism and chaos.
You should know them, they are the anti-progress that will hunt for every BITTER news to celebrate and say “We told you so, you voted this, you voted tribalism “

Arrest them, not shoot at them. That is common sense. If a person commits a crime, the job of the police is to arrest such a person, not assassinate such a person. undecided

I am yet to understand why vandalism and setting ablaze of properties got to do with protest,

let us face what we want from government,

we want food,

we are supporting our padi Princessfchukwu because she has been helping we Nigerians to speak our mind to our leaders and we believe that she will do more.

This protest might actually surpass the 10days ultimatum…
Everyone’s watching..the whole world is watching how the govt is going to handle this situation, this time around.
Will it be a repetition of The Endsars or The beginning of a Govt-Citizen Dialogue

So, what? The man has been incompetent and corrupt since his days as Lagos State Governor, and he has gone on to prove even this fact from day one of his usurping of the mandate of the Nigerian people in 2023. Am I not allowed to keep pointing out how incompetent and corrupt Tinubu has been since his days in Lagos State? What law says I cannot do this? undecided

Na wa ooo

I told someone yesterday, When I read about the Madness in Kano that is now spreading to other Northern States that; I quote

"AN AVERAGE HAUSA/FULANI THINKS THE MEANING OF PROTEST IS RIOT" grin grin grin

The Hausas don't know how to protest, the word protest means riot to them. Watch as this protest become a tribal and then lead to
religious crisis if it is not halted immediately.

First they will start attacking Yorubas in their state, then they will start attacking other tribes,
finally they will start attacking Christians and other religious group. grin grin grin

I was so lucky, I used the opportunity of the so called protest, to go and check on my workers in my Yam and Rice farm in Benue.

BENUE is so so so peaceFUL. I am only hearing about this protest here on NL. Kudos to Rev. Father Alia.

Technically they is no protest of any kind in Makurdi town, or maybe I haven't seen one since my arrival.
