No Nigerian boxer had qualified for the boxing event at the Olympics since 2016. This time, three qualified. Unfortunately, one got injured while preparing for the games and he withdrew, the other got beaten in the first fight; while the third, a lady was disqualified for doping offences.
Lol grin grin grin. Laugh wan burst my belle when I read this. grin

Name me ONE SPORT that you or anybody in your family is pursuing right now.

JUST ONE.

Or is it your father that will go and win 1,000 gold medals at the Olympics?

Idiots with free internet.

I'm sure he's just coming out of a pepper soup joint, or short time duties.
what has his father or members of his family got to do with the topic of discussion?

Unfortunately, despite all these, there will be no sanctions or punishments on the erring officials or whoever is responsible for this show of shame...it's just a normal day in this enclave called Nigeria

Because CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME.

How can you be sitting in your parlour drinking beer, and be demanding that others bring you gold medals at the Olympics?

Don't YOU have any sport you are good at?

Those who were brave enough to pursue their talents have gotten there and done their best for Nigeria.

YOU, what have you done?

There are literally MILLIONS of youths out there with talent that could pursue a career in athletics, judo, weightlifting, swimming.

But they will shun it or their parents would discourage them.

Everybody wants to be doctor and lawyer.

Engineer.

I knew so many talented footballers in my secondary school days.

All these Osimhen and co are NOTHING compared to some talents I've seen on Naija pitches growing up.

But once they left school, they abandoned football to go to uni and become professionals.

Today some are working in banks and all these places.

blueghost:
So many incompetent clowns in government that have no business being there, the recent developments surrounding Nigeria's preparation for the Paris Olympics have raised significant concerns. It's disheartening to see the apparent lack of readiness, which reflects poorly on our nation's governance and organizational abilities. The incompetence displayed by certain officials, who seem to have no business being in their positions, only exacerbates the situation.
The Olympics is a global stage, and our performance—or lack thereof—will be a testament to our capabilities and commitment. Unfortunately, as things stand, it seems we are on track for a major embarrassment. This is not just a failure of the sports ministry but a broader failure of the government to prioritize and effectively manage crucial national interests.
Nigerians deserve better. Our athletes deserve better support and infrastructure. It is a shame that instead of showcasing our talent and potential, we are likely to present a disorganized and unprepared front to the world.
It's high time for a thorough reassessment and urgent corrective measures. The government must demonstrate a serious commitment to excellence and accountability. Anything less would not only undermine our athletes but also diminish Nigeria's reputation on the world stage.
Well captured.
