No. The system has not changed, only personnel. He tried to start Nkunku in no 9, KDH, Caicedo, Enzo and Lavia at the same time. He therefore sacrificed width to test this, using Gusto and Mudryk.

It's not worked, he's found this out. He's changed it. And he can only do all this because it's Pre Season.

No one is capping for Maresca oga. We were not open. We misplaced passes in the wrong places and City capitalised. 2nd goal, Caicedo mistake, 3rd and 4th goals, Nkunku mistakes.

All these is due to overpassing at the back and placing too many men on the wrong side of the ball. Only Maresca can cause 4 misplaced passes to lead to 4 goals because he is forcing them to overplay in dangerous positions and placing one less man at the back so a misplaced pass means immediate threat on goal

In the words of Cam'ron, niggas misplace passes everyday B. But in Maresca case, a misplaced pass is almost always fatal

My main concern is the defenders...I have very faith in the likes of Tosin, Fofana, Badiashile and Colwill. That's basically the whole Central defence. They don't really inspire confidence as individuals.

It's no crime trying out different possibilities in preseason, that's exactly what it's meant for.

Conceded goals were obvious errors as a result of pressure. I'm imagining the absence of those misplaced passes, it would have been a fair result on the part of Maresca.

Additionally, if Marc Guiu and Noni Madueke didn't squandered those chances, it could have made a huge difference.

Maresca, should please not bow down on his philosophy and testing his tactical ability with opportunity preseason avail him.

So a systemic issue which I believe he saw, and tried to fix immediately by making changes. And what better time to do so - assessing inherent squad strengths and weakness - than pre-season.

I would rather a guy who's trying to set up a visible and identifiable system of play, but is insightful enough to know when changes are required.

Moreover, most of the misplaced passes are also as a result of teammates still learning where each other is standing in positional play. That cannot be a bad thing. It only gets better with time.

I'm trusting in the process because in Enzo Maresca, I see capacity and competence.
