The most enduring form of respect is the one that is truly earned. You fallen demons deceive yourselves by equating respect with dobale(prostration). But your hearts are filled with deception, hypocrisy and double standards.

On the issue of Soyinka,he has made his mark when it comes to literature irrespective of what anyone says. He equally made his mark as someone who fought for the masses at different times; civil war, June 12 struggle etc... Let's not delve into the formation of the pyrates confraternity because it's quite controversial in the light of the havoc cultism has wrecked in our society.

The issue I have with Soyinka is the hypocrisy he exhibited in his recent remarks regarding the conduct of the 2023 general election as well as his indifference to the destruction of the Nigerian economy by his benefactor, Tinubu.

Everyone including foreign election observers witnessed the violence that characterized the 2023 election in Lagos, Rivers and other places. Because Tinubu won, the man in Soyinka died. He would rather criticize Peter Obi as if PO was in government.

Don't get it twisted, Soyinka is entitled to support whoever he so chooses but if someone like Tinubu who is an embodiment of anti-democratic behaviors like sponsoring political thuggery(speech at London dinner where he encouraged his loyalists to snatch it and run away with it, ballot box snatching, using money to induce voters (bullion vans at Bourdilon during 2019 elections) etc. Is his choice,then it is most unfortunate

Folks like you should not blame the youth who looked up to him only to be disappointed that someone they revered actually has a price.

He is a hypocrite if he is still mute and can't criticize the glaring failings of the Tinubu administration. Subsidy removal has created an unprecedented level of hardship in this country yet folks like you are blinded by tribalism.
The same Soyinka criticized GEJ in 2012 for the same subsidy removal and even called his wife a sheppopotamus.

Soyinka has done himself and his reputation more harm than good just because of his association with a crook like BAT & will go down as a good man who later derailed from noble causes in his later years.
