The dollar gig you're on about, hope it's consistent? Sometimes we need to be slow in taking critical decisions as these. But if you feel you've got everything covered, don't quit your job with any bad blood, remember that a new employer may require you to get a reference from your last work place. Even if they don't, it's good to remain gentlemanly in your interactions with people.
Can't predict the future but even if the dollar gig would go away am ure it won't be immediately...

I have also taken my time to make sure that my notice of resignation wasn't sent during the period of tension with some of my bosses...

I intend to give my notice and see it through....

Thanks for good advice

You should inform the company 2 months ahead of time, tell them you are applying for a fellowship or skill upgrade and as such don't have any choice than to leave. You can't say, you may need them later on along the ladder
I will give them my contractual notice

I'm planning to resign from my full time role tomorrow Monday 5th of August....

This role pays me #300k net alongside data and other few allowances. But over the last couple of months more stuffs have been dump on my table without adequate compensation...

I have tried to have a conversation with the management to further review my take home to match the additional responsibilities but it's failing on deaf ears with no commitment to my request all I get is more work...

I have delayed this to accommodate the fears of friends and family but I do have another hustle that pays me in dollars that actually meets my needs so I'm thinking of leaving this Naira one to focus on that one and use my extra time to prepare for something better......

My resignation letter is ready and I will drop it after our weekly meeting tomorrow morning except a divine intervention stops me....

So my people do you have any words for me? I will that if any......
I’ve resigned a few times. I typed a letter to the song “ I did it my way “ by Frank Sinatra and thanked my supervisor and directors. ( the incoming director said, I’ve never seen anything that creative, I wish I had time to get to know you better)

In another instance , it was to the song “ bye bye bye”

Just do your best to make sure you cover all angles and wish everyone well

Re: What Should You Do A Day To Your Resignation? by anochuko01(m): 5:37am On Aug 05, 2024
I was in a similar situation about a month ago.
I resigned from 2 full time jobs I was juggling together to focus on a remote job I got. I'm also spending the free time to upskill and make myself ready for even more foreign remote opportunities.

This shouldn't be a difficult decision for you at all.

Your posts show something or things are missing. Leaving this job is not the real issue, but there is something you can not pin point. It is called "uncertainty"

First, listen to the people who said that you should leave on a good note. And I am happy you said you have a good relationship with the management.

Second, listen to those who asked you to back up your files. Please do so before sending in anything.

Now, the only thing you need is to address what you are trying to pin point out. In most cases in Naija....it is always solved easily. Whether you resign or not, go buy your house or build one. If possible, build blocks of flats in a high valued area to rent out. My idea is that you secure the three basic necessities: food, clothes, and shelter. Shelter is the most difficult in Naija. Secure that fast.

If you want to secure clothes, you know how. Very easy.

As for food, most people can't do it. But if you can, go buy plots of land you can use for real estate in the future, and start gardening there now. Believe me, you are doing yourself a big favor. Please, don't buy land in the bush....buy plots in residential areas.

Sit down and check your dollar salary. If you think you can do these, do them fast. You will never regret your action. I won't advise you to leave your job or continue. Either way, you can achieve these things I have highlighted.

I forgot, if you have kids, you need to balance everything. So....think well.

If you have a garden, you will think less about what to eat and save more money. also, not paying house rent gives one so much confidence. And you will find yourself having the best clothes if you can address these two things. The secret of having good clothes is having vacations. Peace of life comes along with it. And that's a way to enjoy life. Go get visas....or better still....find a way to get the residence of another country.

There are more. A step at a time. Start with securing the three basic needs. Then after, you will find more projects to handle. This is how to make it in life. You will meet more people who will challenge you.

Good luck!

Good that you have another hustle. People leave bad bosses and not the company. Go ahead and drop that letter if you no longer enjoy your work.

I did some years ago and I didn't regret it. I'm better off today. Your mental health is better than 300k.

Hey
I got your message
But here is my opinion in form of questions
What would it cost you to continue for patience sake?
What do you stand to lose if you quit?
If the other job was paying well why didnt you quit ever since?
How soon do you think you will get a replacement of this if u quit this?

My opinion in conclusion - if is not costing you to be patient for some while to see if things would change then keep the job
In putting up this post I tried to be as detailed as possible just to convey my message....

- I have communicated my pain point to all major stakeholders including the CEO..but they just wanted me to maintain status quo with no commitment or time line of attending to my needs

- I took my time too, didn't rush to resign I consider earlier suggestions from family and friends and hold my peace for some time
- I don't how soon I will get another but I will be ok

I appreciate your suggestions thank you

I know this may sound silly, but please do not resign. Is this job affecting your productivity on the other one? If no, please manage both jobs. The economy isn't smiling too well on employers. Moreso, having two sources supercedes one. You can set a two year target, save up all the funds from this job and invest the saved money or set up a business that aligns with your skills.

Before you tender your resignation, make sure you have a stop gap measure to keep you running till another job comes. If this is not in view then you may want to rethink your decision.

My brother no resign ooo.. the management dey test you to see if you can work under pressure, abi wetin dem dey call am... You might be posted to a new branch as general manager... Hold ya job and cut out meetings with friends at bars.. and don't forget to stay fit and eat well...

No drop any resignation letter my son
OP thread carefully. Things are tough outside, I worked with a certain FMCG for 4 years and I resigned because it's in a remote area which made me feel trapped, with no family around, got bored, and felt my life wasn't moving. Searched for a job for another 3 months before I landed a job at a very very big company (multinational) but as a contract staff, as I was getting close to being staffed after 6 months in the job, they laid off all contract staff.

It took me another 3 months to land this job which is in the central city, now can go for my Masters and mix up with society and I am willing to resign again for a govt work which will give me less pay because I need time to go for some training in a research institute which my current place of work might not grant me.

There is a lot of uncertainty ahead of you if you are willing to take the risk. I'm 2 years into my new job, maybe if I had not left then I'd still be trapped in the village working with the formal company, and maybe I wouldn't have started my master's.

Think through, and don't make rash decisions.

I was in your position just a month ago...70k for a 'managerial' position. Proceeded to drop my resignation and tried to leave this evil boss and all hell was let loose. He tried to implicate me and tarnish my image.I fought back. Glad to be out of that place.
Re: What Should You Do A Day To Your Resignation? by nwirinedu(m): 8:12am On Aug 05, 2024
You are resigning because extra work was dumped on your table not because the company was bad to you. Do you know that if you re going into business for yourself you will need to spend more hours and even work on weekends ( unless you are into yahoo yahoo).

Think about it well , dont make decisions based on short term challenges, if you want to resign you ought to notify your company on time, so that you and them can tidy things resignations that cause disruptions in the organization are not good, we complain that employers are mean but forget the things we do that make them mean.

IF you had a business and your staff just left suddenly on a Monday morning without informing you how would you feel? How will you treat the next hire? Think well, reflect and act appropriately.

.

On your last day of work before resignation, consider the following tasks:

1. *Tie up loose ends*: Complete any outstanding tasks or projects to ensure a smooth transition.

2. *Document your work*: Write down important information, processes, and contacts to help your colleagues and successor.

3. *Say goodbye*: Take time to thank and bid farewell to your colleagues, mentors, and friends.

4. *Return company property*: Hand over any company materials, equipment, or documents.

5. *Attend an exit interview*: Share your feedback and insights to help the organization grow.

6. *Leave on good terms*: Maintain a positive relationship with your former employer and colleagues.

7. *Prepare for the next step*: Take care of any necessary paperwork, benefits, or administrative tasks for your transition.

Remember to stay professional, gracious, and positive, even if you're excited to move on to new adventures!
