She is the daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father and first president of Bangladesh. Having served for a combined total of over 20 years, she was the longest serving prime minister in the history of Bangladesh. Before leaving office in 2024, she was the world's longest-serving female head of government.

Goodbye the Iron Lady of Asia.
When the people revolt nothing matters

This goes a long way to pass a sound note of warning to those who are blinded with religious and ethnic sentiments.

This country is an Islamic state, yet the rulers are not doing the right things and that is why the people are protesting.

So, voting leaders because they are from your religious group, ethnic or other associations is very unhuman. Only animals behave that way.

Sometime ago, a tribe was so tribalistic that they even went as far as preventing other ethnic groups from exercising their rights to vote and be voted. They destroyed properties belonging majorly to the Easterners, destroyed their homes on the ground that they didn't vote for Tinubu.

The question now is, is it only thr Easterners that are suffering from the atrocities going on in this current administration? NOOO. Everybody irrespective of tribe and religion are going through this wrong path. We knew this man was very dubious with records to show, yet, because he is your tribes man, you chose him and supported him to power at all cost.

Nigeria isvin a worst shit than is seen in the open.

As dubious as they are, they almost got away with the coastal road construction project 🙄. All their target is to dry the country, these men are evil.

Nice development! Bangladeshis have proven really that power belongs to the people and the readiness to resist any form of bad governance.
Nigerians should learn from them but unfortunately we are too cowardly, stupidly ethnically and religiously sentimental to grow the necessary balls.
The recent ongoing protests in Nigeria here only came up because Lesson teachers who wanted to teach PO and Igbos a bitter lesson found themselves deep in a fiery furnace which they never expected.
And it's the same lesson teachers who are protesting now.

@blackbriar,

Indeed, it's as good as saying the Army have taken over the governance of Bangladesh. These are the unintended consequences of these kinds of protests by the younger generation [Gen Zs especially] who never experienced brutal and corrupt military rule. You NEVER know where it would end. Bangladesh has been under very brutal military dictatorships in the past that did NOT help that country. ...

. There were many Ghanaians, a few Jamaicans, a few Americans, a few British, Indian, and Bangladeshi expats during the oil boom era right into the early 1980s in Nigeria who were academics in Nigerian Universities and other institutions and I attended school with some of their children back then. My Bangladeshi buddies and their family later moved to Canada from Nigeria during the Ibrahim Babangida years of military rule when the economy started to tank from 1985 and it never recovered. So, military rule can set the freedom of speech and economies of countries back in time.

Lol... You cracked me up. Indeed I'm an OG.

Caye, your father was saying the absolute truth! College of Education in Oyo... That's very interesting. A lot of Indians, Bangladeshis, Pakistani, British, Americans, Ghanaians, Jamaicans, etc, worked as academics in Nigerian Universities or higher institutions and Primary to Secondary schools such as Federal Government Colleges back in the 1970s right up till 1985 (1989 max) and left gradually because of the introduction of the Structural Adjustment Program (SAP) by Gen. Ibrahim Babangida which made the economy to further go south. In 1989, there was even a bloody anti-SAP protest and violence which led to some lootings as well especially in Lagos. Many of these expats from India, Bangladesh, Ghana, Britain, etc, left for Canada, Europe, and the United States for greener pastures because things were NOT going well economically under the military rule in Nigeria in the late 1980s. At the same time, Nigerian professionals (including Uni academics) also followed the path of their Indian, Ghanaian and Bangladeshi colleagues and headed in large numbers for the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

Some of the brilliant Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi expats also worked as medical doctors, the commodities or export sector, and in various fields of human endeavor because the Nigerian economy was relatively strong and Nigerian folks flew regularly on holidays to and fro via British Caledonian Airways or Nigeria Airways to London from Lagos or via Pan-American Airlines from Lagos to New York.

So, yes, we enjoyed an international or cosmopolitan education with the presence of those expats back in the day and I still maintain contact with my Bangladeshi and Ghanaian buddies (being brilliant children of expat academics in a Nigerian University) who now work on Wall Street in New York right till this very moment.

You better warn your corrupt Muslim leaders and their kaffir partners at the top to change their ways because when the revolution comes, I won't need an ulama pronouncement to execute you and the rest of them. My takfir binds me to do that.

I swear by Allah!!

The country population is about 170 million people.

The voice of the people is the voice of God.

Where there is unity and oneness in a group of people, they can pull down a mountain but tribalism and religion has blocked the brains of many of our people here.
INCLUDING YOURS.
